Would someone who tows a 2014 Jeep GC Summit please give me some advise? This truck is"new to me" but I know how to put the Quadra Track II into neutral for towing. But it is not clear to me if there are any additional steps. Does the transmission automatically go into park after you check it in reverse and move it back to neutral? Of course I know about using the emergency brake and releasing it once the truck is attached to the tow bars but is there anything else I need to do? I read that you need to run the Jeep's engine at least every 24 hours to keep the air bags full. Thanks for any advice/help in advance!

On my 2016 Jeep GC, after you put the transfer case in neutral (with the little button), you have to put the shift lever in park. Do your checks in reverse (rev engine), but then put it in park. Then be sure park brake is off and shut off engine. Be sure it goes to OFF, and not just ACC. There was nothing in my book about running the engine every 24 hours. I never do that. Have the steering wheel pretty straight though before your start.

I am in the process of setting my 2014 Grand Cherokee up for towing behind my 2006 Allure. Does anyone have the height for the Grand;s baseplate at the vehicle. I am trying to determine what if any adapter I will need for the tow bar to be level.

Roadmaster's website says there are no restrictions on towing the 2011-2016 Grand Cherokee.

I use a Blue Ox  2" drop receiver on my Magna towing a 2016 Jeep GC, and that makes the tow bar level.  I think you should get everything setup with your Jeep and tow bar, and then measure to get the right receiver.

Thanks. I am having the roadmaster base plates installed next week and then will be able to get a good measurement.

I liked the new blue ox base plates; but, I already had the roadmaster tow bar and the guardian which I wanted to use.

I tow a 2015 grand cherokee behind a 2009 Allure and use no adapter. It's pretty level.

Towing Procedure 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop, with the engine running. 2. Press and hold the brake pedal. 3. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL. 4. If vehicle is equipped with Quadra-Liftâ„¢ air suspension, ensure the vehicle is set to Normal Ride Height. 5. Using a ballpoint pen or similar object, press and hold he recessed transfer case NEUTRAL (N) button (located by the selector switch) for four seconds. The light behind the N symbol will blink, indicating shift in progress. The light will stop blinking (stay on solid) when the shift to NEUTRAL (N) is complete.A"FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM IN NEUTRAL" message will appear in the Driver Information Display (DID). Refer to "Driver Information Display (DID)" in "Understanding Your Instrument Panel" for further information.

6. After the shift is completed and the NEUTRAL (N) light stays on, release the NEUTRAL (N) button. 7. Shift the transmission into REVERSE. 8. Release the brake pedal for five seconds and ensure that there is no vehicle movement. 9. Shift the transmission back into NEUTRAL. 10. With the transmission and transfer case in NEUTRAL, press and hold the ENGINE START/ STOP button until the engine turns off. Turning the engine off will automatically place the transmission in PARK. 11. Press the ENGINE STOP/START button again (without pressing the brake pedal), if needed, to turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 12. Firmly apply the parking brake. 13. Attach the vehicle to the tow vehicle using a suitable tow bar. 14. Release the parking brake.

NOTE: · Steps 1 through 4 are requirements that must be met before pressing the NEUTRAL (N) button, and must continue to be met until the shift has been completed. If any of these requirements are not met before pressing the NEUTRAL (N) button or are no longer met during the shift, then the NEUTRAL (N) indicator light will flash continuously until all requirements are met or until the NEUTRAL (N) button is released. · The ignition switch must be in the ON/RUN position for a shift to take place and for the position indicator lights to be operable. If the ignition switch is not in the ON/RUN position, the shift will not take place and no position indicator lights will be on or flashing. · A flashing NEUTRAL (N) position indicator light indicates that shift requirements have not been met. · If the vehicle is equipped with Quadra-Liftâ„¢ air suspension, the engine should be started and left running for a minimum of 60 seconds (with all the doors closed) at least once every 24 hours. This process allows the air suspension to adjust the vehicle's ride height to compensate for temperature effect. Shifting Out Of NEUTRAL (N)

If the tow vehicle is too high or low it puts additional stress on the tow bar mechanism. It could also ride up over or under the hitch and hit the rear of the coach under hard braking.
