Brake controller, remote controls and gen auto start.

Yahoo Message Number: 108237
Hello to everyone. Working on and learning the systems on the 2002 Magna Interlude new to us. It was unused for a while so systems need awakened; remotes needed new batteries; etc. #1-The prior owner indicated it had gen auto start but I am unable to identify it on the Silverleaf or the Heart interface. Anyone out there have a same era coach that has that option? I have not gotten it to work yet and am not even sure that my coach has the option. 8000 Onan genset. #2 question- are these coaches prewired for a brake controller? #3- What remotes were included? I have awning; cord rewind; and two Panasonic. (Silverleaf and DVD) It has the crimestopper; should there be remotes for that? Thanks in advance for the info!

I don't believe the coach was prewired for a brake controller. I may be wrong and someone will jump in here and correct me.

There are spare wires running from front to back that can be used. On my 2000 Magna, wire numbers 4 (12g red), 5 (16g yel), 6 (16g blk), & 7 (16g orn) run between the front run board and the dash. My spare wires are hanging down under the rear of the coach on the passenger side.

You may need a wire tracer to locate the wires. Start in the front run bay with the wire you are interested in and then search out the wires in the destination area. I use the Triplet Fox and Hound Jr wire tracer.

That's a good question. We have a 2000 Allure # 30476 and I am looking at getting a trailer and will need a brake also. In my compartment with the fuses and fuel filters is a bundle of capped wires that are color coded like a trailer wire set up. I haven't done any tracing yet or anything but was wondering if this goes to the front of the coach somewhere. Would then be easy to tie in a brake control. Love to hear more on this.

Thanks,
Joe

At least some of them terminate behind the HWH leveling controller under the passenger side of the dash behind the lower dash cover.  As I recall they are well hidden and required some "fishing" to locate. A wire tracer was a big help.

Wow thanks Dave. I have been in that panel to check something for the HWH but didn't think to look for that loom of wires. Makes sense and there are surely a lot of wires back there LOL. I will take a look and let everyone know.

Not sure if it was mentioned here or not, but they make an RF brake controller. You can pick it up for $243 and skip the wiring headache. Its looks like all 7 wires are going to the plug on the rear of the Coach, but I confirmed the 12v and the trailer brake wire were not hot. Maybe a fuse on the trailer wiring panel??

Need to update my post about the spare wires. Those same wire numbers run from below the engine compartment near the rear mud flap on the passenger side to the front run bay too. If your coach wiring is similar I would try to use wire #4 (12g red) to make the connection. They are bundled together in a flexible conduit. At least on my coach they are there.
