HVAC Zone Control Issues:

Yahoo Message Number: 108571
I've read through posts regarding zone control issues and I have a similar issue. My "zone 1" is out and in its place is a mysterious "zone 4". Zone 1 simply disappeared one day and Zone 4 appeared at the same time. In troubleshooting; Zone 1 HVAC, both electrical and hydro-hot are inop, probably because they never get a signal from the thermostat. Zone 4 doesn't do anything, On the T-Stat under zone 4 here are settings for Elec and Gas heat and AC, but selecting each of the options and calling for heat / cool does not energize anything. I would like to troubleshoot and isolate where the problem lies and based on my reading the manual and posts - I have some questions - if anyone can help.

Reading through the documentation, it seems that the T-Stat is a "control head" that interprets signals from remote "boards" that sit on the A/C units and in the air plenums for the Heat Registers.
1.) Does anyone know specifically where these boards are located on/in the AC units and the Hydro-hot, so I don't have to rip all of the ducting out to find them?
2.) Documentation on the T-Stat says to refer to documentation that is issued separately for the control boards in the AC / Hydro-hot plenums. My coach documentation does not include that documentation and I can't find any reference to those boards so that I could search online for that documentation - does anybody have any information on the boards / style / type. I have a 2007 coach using the Coleman Zone Control Digital Wall T-Stat (the older style with super touchy zone/mode button).
3.) Can I unplug or power down the T-Stat, forcing it to reboot and search for zone controllers?
4.) Assuming I can find the zone contollers for the HVAC and the Hydro-hot for zone 1, can I reboot them somehow? Powering down the coach, salesman switch, Chassis Battery does not seem to affect the condition.
5.) I'm assuming that there is a zone controller for zone 1 heat and a zone controller for zone 1 AC/Heat Pump, so logic tells me that it is unlikely that BOTH zone controllers (one on the AC and one on the HydroHot) have failed so it would be logical to assume that the problem is with the T-Stat but wanted to solicit the groups opinion on this.

Any other thoughts that the group has would be appreciated.

what model thermostat do you have?

This is the reset procedure for the 5 button thermostat:

16. SYSTEM RESET
a. Turn the ON/OFF switch to OFF position.
b. Simultaneously depress and hold the MODE and ZONE push-buttons while turning the ON/OFF switch to ON.
FF should appear in the LCD display until the MODE and ZONE push-buttons are released.

Found this on another forum: Known problems with these thermostats and RFI.

The 00 lockup will occur ocassionally on any of these type thermostats, due to RFI from some device in your coach. pull the 5 amp, 12 vdc fuse that powers the thermostat for 10 secs and it will reset; or get rid of the device causing the RFI (sometimes the fluorescent ballasts); or add a choke to the thermostat.
