Generator switch within driver's reach?

Yahoo Message Number: 108682
We have an 01 Magna, and have had it for 4 years. This past weekend was the first time I have taken it solo and needed to run the generator while traveling so the a/c could be on in the back to keep it comfortable for the dogs. As the sun went down, and it was a bit cooler I thought I could turn the generator off and save a bit of fuel. Ummmm seriously there is no generator switch within reach of the driver? Or and this is very possible, did I just not see it? I will go out there today and give it a good look.

My Intrigue is the same way. I wish a had a switch within reach of the drivers seat.

Don't know if yours is like mine or not, but above the drivers seat is a row of switches that has the gen/start/stop switch. If the sun visor is in a certain position .it hides these switches. Does not make sense what so ever to not ave a gen switch with in the drivers reach!!!

On my 2000 Magna there is a A/C vent just above the bed in the rear of my coach. When the dash air is on it also blows cool air above the bed, Keeps my dog cool, and she is a very cool dog!

I have always turned off the roof AC units before removing the AC power source.

Maybe I have done it wrong for 14 years?

On my Silverleaf on my dash, I can start the generator from the driver seat. Since I'm new to country coach not sure if you have that option on a 2001.

Looked and looked, checked with husband and nope, no gen switch within the drivers reach unless you stand up and stretch over....

On my 2000 Magna, no gen switch close to the driver. I'm a single traveler and purchased the Onan EC-30W that allows for remote start of the generator. It is a handheld size unit that will allow you to start the generator. It also will work as an autostart system for the generator if your house batteries get low or you set a temperature to start the generator for air conditioner use. I can now start and stop my generator while driving.

Don't know if they sell the unit anymore but if they do, know that the control unit can be mounted inside the coach. I first mounted mine near the generator but it kept losing communication with the remote unit. After calling Onan I was told the unit can be mounted inside and connected to the existing generator start switch. I had mine moved inside, above the windshield, and wired to the generator switch. Unfortunately, it costs about $500 but you do get the autostart function also. If you are going to wire it into the generator switch inside, don't purchase the y-cable adapter as you won't be using it.

Hi Vicki.

On my 2000 Magna, when the the over the road air is on in front there is a switch in the bedroom that turns on an auxilry air in the back and cools the bedroom. There is no need to have the roof airs on so no need to run the generator. I don't know but I thought all Magna's had the back air conditioner .

Hi Pete, yes, it does, but the dogs are up front behind the passenger, crated...not up close enough for the "dash" air to be effective. We have always run the generator while traveling when it's hot outside. This is the first coach we have had that didn't have a generator switch within easy reach of the driver.
