2000 Allure ride height issue

Hi,

first time posting here. I have a 2000 Allure and my ride height chart says 10 13/16" from the bottom of the frame rail to the bottom plate of the air bag. I can only achieve 7.5" before I run out of adjustment.

Has anyone else had this issue?

You have to use those charts with a grain of salt, I set ride heights starting with the numbers from a chart if available, most are plate to plate (bag mount upper to bag mount lower)measurements. If those measurements aren't making since and/or achievable, then it's about getting it to where it all looks normal. Questions I ask myself, does the bag look normal "" don't want too much air, don't want too little, then does the wheel well opening look normal to the tire "" not too much space, not too little space, then does the overall coach sitting on a level floor look normal? Stand back as far as possible and look over the stance of the coach and take side to side measurments on each axle, should be fairly close from side to side on the same axle. While doing this I always dump the air multiple times and let it re-level and keep checking my measurements. My most common measurement is from the floor to the center of the wheel well using the wheel as the center and maybe because I'm an old hot rodder I like to see the rear a touch higher than the front.

I have a 2003 Allure and have no problem obtaining the measurements listed in the chart you referred to. In fact, the rear will go even higher if I hold down the raise button. My coach does not go to the proper ride height as it should so I adjust it manually and then pull the fuse. I use the measurements listed in the chart for front and back. The coach looks to be at the correct height and rides good using those figures. I also do as Jim suggested. Once I get it set per the chart, I note the wheel well distances and use these as a quick reference during a trip. My experience has been that the rear wheel well distance will be a tad more than the front ( 1 to 3/4" inch). Of course this is not an accurate method to use anyway so I could be off somewhat. When you say you run out of adjustment, what do you mean? Does the air bag appear to be fully extended?

When I talk about running out of adjustment, I am meaning that my linkage adjustment is slid all the way to the top, but only on one side. One side has a new ride height valve and the adjustment is all the way to the top of the linkage, the other valve is a old one (possibly original) and I have roughly 3 inches of adjustment left.

Is it possible that when you change out the ride height valve that you need to change the linkage to accommodate? It is clear that the new valve is mounted higher on the mounting plate.

My coach sits 1/2" lower in the rear than in the front, if I measure the asphalt to the inside of the wheel well. It appears that my air bags don't have much air in the rear, but its hard to know how much they should have. If I had a ride height measurement height that was accurate, I could make the necessary adjustments, but it seems like there is confusion from many sources.

My take on it would be that whoever changed the ride height valve didn't install the proper valve and linkage. On my coach, they are both the same on the rear, I'm not sure right now, but the front may be the same also...
