Slide-out not level,rain leak

Yahoo Message Number: 109441
My '98 Allure has the "Great Room" galley slide-out on the driver side. She is a Grand Old Lady and she has served us well but, we have a rain leak problem. With the coach perfectly level, I have rain leaking onto the galley floor tile. Also a small drip from above the cook top coming through the interior upholstered, wood slide out trim board.
However, by tilting the coach slightly to about 1/4 bubble high on the passenger side, the leaks stop. I checked the slide out roof with a metal carpenter's level while the coach is in the normal leveled position on the air bags. It shows that the slide out is slightly tilted inward in its normal open (deployed) position.
While operating the slide out to its fully open position, I noticed that the tilt seems to be amplified at the last inch of travel as the gaskets are compressed.
The top of the slide has been re-sealed to the outer skin with 3M 4200 compound which seems to be intact. The slide out cover is in good shape. The slide out gaskets are original (18 years old) but appear to be holding their shape OK.
Anyone know if there is are adjustable stops or something that I might be able to do to adjust the slide out myself or other method to fix this? What is the procedure for removing the interior trim board for inspection? Should I attempt fussing around with this or am I wasting my time? Is it possible for DIY gasket replacement or does the whole room have to be remove for the gaskets to be replaced? Opinions please! Daron Hairabedian 98 Allure 30226

Daron,

The only time I had a leak in the galley was whenever the shower dome caulking got a crack in it. Quickly noticeable once I looked for it. Completely removed and resealed the shower dome and have been leak free for 3 years now.
Slide out has been a problem though. Appears that slide-out was going to far in and broke the seal between the wall and roof on the slide-out. Removed old caulking, cleaned and replaced the seal, on top of the slide, and all seams ok now. Did not know I had a problem until the back of the sofa got wet during a rainstorm.
I noticed that our coaches were made fairly close to each other. We may experience some of the same problems, so lets keep in touch.

Roy,

Thanks for your input. I will climb up and inspect that shower dome.
I will be folding back the slide out topper soon so that I can re-inspect that troublesome joint/seam between the slide out skin and the slide out roof.
I re-sealed that joint with a good bead of 3M 4200 sealant about 3 years ago but, it may be time to re-do it. The slide out room does seem to put undue strain on that joint while compressing the gaskets. Have the gaskets been replaced on your coach? I wonder how long the are designed to hold up? I will post results as soon as I get to it.
Any input on removing the interior trim board?
