I just purchased a Delco Remy Alternator to replace my Leece Neville and noticed the shaft is not keyed on the new alternator like it was on the old one.

I'm worried the pulley will spin without this key...I searched the messages and no one mentioned this, they just said it was a direct replacement.

Terry,

Had the same thing on mine. I wrapped a thick rag around the pulley, grabbed it with a very large set of channel locks I have and lightly used an impact wrench on the nut. It's been a few years with no problems.

Thanks Barney

I tightened it up and it seems fine while idleing in the garage...I'll no better on my trip to the FMCA Rally in Indio.
