Step Cover fix

Our Step Cover stopped working. To help others, I'll detail the fix:

Issue: Step Cover would not extend or retract. Would move an inch or so and then stop. Toggling the step in and out and "helping" with a hand got the step fully extended. There is a bolt under the step (accessible when extended) that can be removed from the gear arm and the step can be removed. The extension arm on our coach is a toothed arm that runs through the motor. I cleaned the arm with solvent and relubricated the arm and ran it in and out several times. I also cleaned the aluminum rail and silicone slides located on the bottom of the steps and lubricated them with a dry silicone lubricant. I replaced the step and extended and retracted the step several times and it worked great. One Nut is all it takes, this is an excellent DIY project even for someone who isn't mechanically inclined.

Good fix Jim. I do the same, I keep those metal rails polished like a mirror, with fine steel wool and dry silicone lubricant. Always works like a champ.
