OTR A/C Air Compressor

Yahoo Message Number: 109646
Have 2008 Allure with Cummins 425. A/C compressor had 12 volts to clutch but compressor clutch not engaging. Shop troubleshooting ended up saying bad clutch but would only change whole compressor. After changing compressor and dryer now the 12 volts drop as soon as the clutch clicks on. Stopped for the evening but not sure what's causing the 12 volt drop. It's not the low pressure switch according to the shop.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Lots of thoughts... First off everything you've said sounds correct that shop said. Always change compressor, dryer & expansion valve is what I do. Then flush system, pressure check with nitrogen then charge. Now if they missed one of those steps you could have a leak and low pressure would stop compressor from coming on.. could also be a bad relay or switch? You can bypass low pressure switch and force compressor to engage but I don't recommend that unless you know for sure and am willing to cook a compressor if your wrong. It's just a basic A/C system, but the parts are expensive...
Did it work when you picked it up? Compressor engaged and blew cold? Easy to miss a step if your not a A/C tech with common sense... IMO

Happy to help you out, I'm on vacation myself so not sure when I'll be able to get online again before next week.. hit & miss internet

What you are describing is a weak connection that will pass 12 volts until a load makes the connection fault. Check for a bad connection.

Did Country Coach produce wiring diagrams of the 12 volt system dealing with OTR air conditioning? Like where is the compressor relay and the wiring at the pressure switch for the freon.

Thanks
