Buyers Remorse, I Hope Not (was Tires For Sale...

Doug, I was interested in your comment re disappointment in handling characteristics of your 03 Allure. I, too, was disappointed with mine until Doug Rutherford told me to have the ride height checked and the shocks adjusted. You can't believe the improvement in handling this did. I am on my sixth motr home, and this 40' Allure with tag is the best handling, best riding I've ever had--better than my '97 and '00 Intrigues.. I'm hoping all your 36 needs is ride height adjustments and shock adjustments---at least I hope that's all you need. Before you get discouraged enough to get rid of your coach give Doug Rutherford a call at CC and discuss your problems with him. You'll be impressed with his concern for your satisfaction.

Walt,

Thanks for the input. CC has already checked ride height and shocks. You are correct, I was impressed with the CC service advisor. He just couldn't do much about what I consider to be a basic flaw. Part of the problem is that the 36' does not have the tag. The wheelbase is fairly short for the vehicle weight. I would buy something with the extra axle if I were doing it over. Tom & I decided some time ago that we are fussier than most due to our backgrounds in trucking. Even my wife, who always enjoyed trips in the big trucks, dislikes the sloppy ride in the coach.

Doug, one thing I see conflicting opinions on is tire pressure. In my previous 2000 Intrigue I had the wandering you refer to and it disappeared when I lowered tire pressure to about 100# front and 90# rear duals ( I never got around to getting a 4-point weight on that coach). My 03 Allure with tag calls per weight chart for about 75# front and off the chart low for the rears and tag. I am actually carrying 85# front and 75# duals and tag and have a superb ride. Some people on this board think I am way low, but a six point weight showed me precisely what the Toyo chart calls for.
Anyway, with your trucking experience you are sure to know more about this than do I. Good luck.

Marshall,

All CC products (Inspire thru Lexa) run Toyo tires all the way around. CC does this because Toyo has a full steel belt, both the sides and face.

Running less tire pressure puts more of the tire face to the ground, more contact. It also provides you with a better ride.
I would have your coach weighed, look at the chart, and add 10psi to be a bit safe.

Damon,

I agree with you, how can you compare a none tag Magna with a tag Foretravel.
We have a 2001 Mag with a tag axle and Michelan tires on the front and the ride is great, plus we have a great interior which does not look like a 1980s trailer (as do most Foretravels).
