Hi Everyone,
Great to be part of this group and great to own a new-to-us 2005 CC Inspire 330 DaVinci. I have a question for those who may have had this issue: We are experiencing overheating occasionally. While in Junction City last week for some slide service, they spotted a very minor radiator leak on the left side of the radiator. Their quote was $6K to replace it with a copper core updated unit. In the mean time, I installed a switch to remove the fan controller from the circuit thereby putting the fan in full speed mode to assist in cooling and this bandaid worked well. However, I want to replace this radiator myself if it is doable, so my question is, has anyone done this replacement and how difficult was it?

Thanks in advance for the assist!!

Bob, I had my radiator replaced in 2009 by Southern Oregon Cat (now out of business) and it took them two days and charged about $5,000 most of which was for the radiator and the 78 quarts of coolant. The labor was about $1,000.
They had two wheel lifts to raise the rear of the coach to drop he radiator down.
You can do it yourself but a $6,000 price for having it done seems like a reasonable proposition.
I like to do my own work but sometimes it is not practical.
A month ago I had a wax valve installed by Brian Schack in Junction City. Give him a call and see what he would charge to do the work. His number is 541-513-5224.

That seems to be the ballpark of current Shop Rates, and suspect parts have gone up some too over the years:)!

Suggest, if not already the plan, going to non aluminum for the replacement... And not to help you spend more money then you may need to. Have the CAC looked over too, as the labor is basically done in relation to the CAC. Maybe swap them both out and be done with it:)!

Opinions will vary on the CAC. So if you think about it and want to do that at the sometime. Suggest a separate post on opinions. (A similar thread on IRV2 Country Coach board, but Smlranger, had two different opinions on CAC's. Recent, so should be easy to spot.)

Best, and enjoy the coach,

Hi Bob.
I replaced my radiator, CAC, hydraulic, oil cooler on my 1998 Country Coach Allure 32ft. Did it in my 40ft RV Garage. Not to hard. After disconnecting everything I had a buddy help me lower it with a Jack. Started at 10:00am and had everything to the radiator shop to be tested at 3:00 pm. Radiator had some core rot and the hydraulic oil cooler was leaking. Ordered my radiator through Jim at Source RV. $3,424 for the radiator. I had quotes for twice that much. Radiator is OEM from Radiator Specialties. Made my own step ramps out of 2x12 to raise Coach 8 inches then used my air to raise the rear to the max. That way if it came crashing down I would still have room. Source Rv had the radiator to me within 2 weeks. Took that time to clean everything. Service transmission, change all hoses, thermostats, change hydraulic oil to synthetic.

I've decided to wait until mine leaks before doing anything.

I would plan to replace the rad and the CAC if/when it needs to be done. Many folks have recommended Duralite CAC's as superior to many others.

I am more than curious how the cooling pack is put together. From the outside of the coach, the CAC, radiator and trans oil cooler are bolted together. Not sure if those flanges with the bolts are part of the radiator/CAC or part of the framework that holds the pieces together. Perhaps that is why Kevin Waite told me the radiator and CAC are custom made to fit each of our coaches.

When Colton replaced my CAC with a Duralite, I recall they pulled the whole cooling package as a unit and put the whole cooling package in as a unit. I think they use the forklift.
