Ignition solenoid

I broke the diode that sits on the top of this solenoid. It is a small delicate item and the engine will not start without it. Perhaps one of you knows a good place to purchase that item?

That surprises me. I would think the ignition solenoid would override it. I mean you want the diode there for long term health to avoid that back flow of current, but on a short term basis, I would think it would work and start engine. Are you sure ignition solenoid is ok?

I agree with Richard, the diode should have no effect on the starter.
To your question where to purchase, any electronic store & maybe an auto-parts will have these.
Amazon will as well, most are rated way over 12 volts, say 300 volts, the question is amperage. You mentioned its small so 3-5 amps would be more than enough.
Check that ignition relay or maybe the starter solenoid is going bad.
Easy to test, take 12 volts to the coil and starter should turn over.
Make sure you are safe from moving items.

You are both correct. I did manage to start the engine without that diode installed. I just replaced a White 100 amp ignition solenoid with a Cole Hersee 200 amp unit hoping to solve the on going problem with engine stalling. I am praying this will work???
