Heated Mirrors

Does anyone who has a Magna or Affinity of my vintage know what turns on the heated driving mirrors on the outside of the coach? Are they thermostatic? Are they wired into something else?

On my 2000 MAGNA the heated mirrors and front coolant pump are fused together. If I remember, one of the wire numbers is "78."The fuse is located in the front run bay. The mirrors are not thermostatically controlled; they are controlled with the ignition switch.

The front coolant pump for the dash heater is located on the front passenger side of the frame next to the generator. They mounted the pump with the pump side up. If the coolant pump seal leaks it can run down into the motor and short out the armature and cause the fuse to blow. I replaced my pumps with sealless pumps.

Rich, they turn on with the ignition. There is a self resetting breaker for the circuit below your drivers seat.

George and Frank: There are three wires involved all on the same breaker I believe. There are two 134 wires and these I think are for the coolant pumps. I disconnected these years ago. There is a 78 wire which I believe the wiring diagram shows is for the heated mirrors. I left that connected so I assume the mirror heat should work.bIs this correct? So you're saying the mirror heat is on at all times if the ignition is on? I was in below zero weather some weeks ago and I'm not so sure the mirrors were heating which is why I ask.

Rich, yes. The mirror heat function is active whenever ignition is on. Assuming a good circuit breaker/fuse the line will be hot. Whether or not the heaters work is another question.

This was true on my '04 Allure and is also the case on my '03 Magna.

Thanks George. Well if they don't work now we probably know why. Mirror heat on whenever the ignition is on? Mirror heat on in 105 degrees!
