New Owner Responds

I want to thank everyone who responded to my request for information regarding potential problems with our new Inspire. I fully realize we will have problems and we are by no means losing sleep over that possibility. We, like you, will take it in stride.
Just a few responses to some of the feedback that was received.
CC and National may have business affiliations, but my research has told me that the motorhome manufacturing is distinctly different.
Purchasing a first year issue of anything could be dangerous. But that depends on the reputation of the company I believe CC has a great reputation and that they back their products. Our MH is coming off line at the end of the 2004 production cycle and they have made several changes (increased tire size, wood up front above the dash, entry tile as an option)and no significant chassis issues. The 30 years CC has put into developing the best product out there has resulted in an entry level DP that, I believe, surpases other manufacturers at the price.

Thanks again for everyone's comments. We are looking forward to the traveling and social experiences that all of you fine people have been talking about.

Hi,

I just want to commend you on your great attitude towards your new coach! We enjoy the lifestyle of traveling and meeting new people and we love (not without issues some of the time) our Country Coach. We would never want to own any other brand, this is our 3rd CC. I think it is amazing that some people get so calloused and look at the glass half empty instead of half full. You are being very realistic regarding the first year model...but as you say Country Coach has an excellent reputation, years of experience and they do stand behind their product.

When anyone owns a product, any product, but especially something as major as a motor home, we in a sense own stock in the company. If we say negative things and the company suffers, or worse yet goes out of business because of lack of sales, then we are the ones in the end that are hurt as well. We would have no one to service our coach, no tech support etc.....We all need CC to do well in the market place, make money and continue making the best coaches they can make. With that having been said, I can not for the life of me understand why someone (especially an OWNER of any CC) would run down any model on a public board like this! People own who read the board....but what about the prospective buyer who reads something someone posts that is negative and that person decides to go to a competitor and purchase their coach!?!?! Now CC has lost a sale because someone was ill informed on a new or existing product, who insisted on running it down to everyone and anyone who will read what they write....truth or untruth, just guessing or complaining or expounding with no knowledge of facts.

As a comparison, if you own a home in an addition and their are tract homes, condos and custom built, you don't post an article in the paper running down your development and making the builder suffer and in turn your investment in your home suffers....no matter what level home you own. My feeling is, if you don't like what you own go buy another brand and see if it is any better (chances are your new MH will be worse!).

This Yahoo Country Coach site is, unfortunately, open to the public....anyone can sign on and read the emails current and archived. For example, NO ONE can sign on the Monaco board...it is open ONLY to owners as are many other owners sites. IMHO we should always think about that when we post emails on this website. The people who own CC's are wonderful, knowledgeable, willing to help and share with each other, smart and a cut above the average.

We should all feel fortunate that we own one of the best motor homes on the road and count our blessings.

Thanks for a good editorial that I generally agree with. However, usually this message board is pretty tame (the way I like it) compared to some others I visit.

Candace and Dale,

Thanks for good words. We have to agree CC was and is our first choice after two years of study and driving others in the price range. There are folk, like you said, that will never be satisfied because they see the world and themselves in a - light. CC owners get great service and support.

We are indeed lucky to be CC owners.

Hello, and thanks for a thoughtful message. With one exeption....

I lurked for 18 months on message boards including this one before purchasing our first coach. I could not get information from the Monaco site because I did not own a Monaco coach.
Guess they had some things that needed to be hidden from the public.

I bought a humble Country Coach because of what I learned on this public board. I am quite pleased with the ownership experience.
Country Coach has the quality that can withstand a few heavy hits from disatisfied owners.

Dear CC Friends,

We just returned from a fun week in Las Vegas and returned to Vancouver. The weather was great and the Allure did great EXCEPT. I wanted to share with you our adventure with the ISL 370. When we first bought our Allure Sept 02, there were some error codes on the Silverleaf. When I pointed them out to CCI, they said is it running OK? we said yes so they said don't worry and erased them out of the Silverleaf. I have watched carefully and we haven't had any new error codes, since we bought it, so I was shocked as we climbed out of Bakersfield up to the Tehachapi, when the engine hiccuped and an error code popped up. It was error 329 "fuel pump controller fault" Of course, I panicked, I got a hold of a mechanic on call (it was Saturday of course) and he said is it working now? Yes, well then it probably will continue to work, but just to make sure take it to the LV Cummins (Intermountain Cummins Inc). We drove another 4 hours without the error code so waited until we were ready to leave to have it looked at. We spent one full day at Intermountain, getting up at 6:00 am so we could be first in line, and waited seven hours for them to tell us they could not duplicate the error and they did all the tests on it, but the fault was still inactive. and besides did I realize that the ECM only had recorded 3 faults and most times cummins won't do anything about anything unless there are 6 or more "counts". The manager told me he was sorry but he couldn't find anything wrong, and it could happen again in 5 hours or 5 months. We were pretty sad, but decided at least they looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong, so we felt consoled for the time lost. On the way back down the same pass we got the same error message and a new one, "change in fuel pressure" we drove the rest of the day without anymore faults or error codes, and made it to Corning without anymore "hiccups." As we were leaving, I checked under the engine and sure enough there was diesel fuel. I called the Redding Cummins and they were wonderful got us right in. When we took the top off he found one of the intakes was leaking (not found in Las Vegas) and the snuffer valve ( I am not kidding) had not been put back correctly and was leaking, he tightened everything back up, we took it for a test drive, it wasn't leaking so after a relatively short 2 and a half hours we were back on the road feeling very happy with the Redding Cummins and disappointed in the Las Vegas Cummins. Things went well until we hit the top of Sexton Summit on the Siskiyous about 43 hundred feet, and yep same error message 329 fuel pump controller fault. We decided to see how it would do over the smaller "hills" (2020') from Medford to Cottage Grove and if we got any more error codes we would drop it off in Junction City Cummins. Guess What? no faults, no error codes, in other words it only seemed to happen above 4000 feet. So what do you guys think? The good news is Redding fixed all the leaks, but now what? Do we have a bad fuel pump? bad fuel pump controller? or just a tuning issue above 4000 feet, and we hardly travel over 2000 feet anyway. We anxiously await your thoughts and opinions

Joe,

Keep going up the Cummins ladder and CC. I've got 40,000 miles on my ISL 370 and have been at sea level up to about 10,000 feet with no problems (with the fuel pump, anyway).

Have you tried the Cummins diesel hotline?
