2003 Allure Electrical Issues - Help!

Just returned home from a month long trip and when I connect to shore power here at the house (120v/20A) I have to place the surge protector in "bypass" mode or the breaker trips. However, when I got home, I can't keep the breaker from tripping! Could it be the transfer switch? Or the Surge protector (see attached pic)? Or could it be a setting on the Trace inverter (RC7GS)?

We got home Sat. Night and I left the coach unplugged...until tonight when I went out the the entire coach was dead...so the batteries drained completely in just 48 hours with little or no drain? (We just put 2 new house batteries in a month ago). When I plugged in the coach, it trips the breaker. So, I finally got the gen set running...and within 10 mins. The batteries were "full"? Really?

So, can the inverter setting for incoming amps (it was set on 20) be wrong and just by moving it down to 5A it will work?

Otherwise, how can I check the surge protector? Inverter? Transfer switch?

Is the house plug a gfi? Surge protectors are known for having issues with gfi and vice versa.

Double check you Power Share, or Max AC in setting is 20A, maybe lower it to 15A. As you know, the inverter will limit itself to drawing 80% of this setting. Can you watch the AC amps going into your inverter/charger on SilverLeaf? This will tell you if it is the coach or your house/garage circuit breaker.

The outlet by the coach is in fact GFCI. I then plugged into a 14 ga extension cord and ran it into the shop. The coach is still tripping the breaker. I've turned off all non essential items in the coach (refer, hot water, etc.)

I'm going to check the connections in the transfer switch...but I don't know how to check the surge protector to make sure it is OK.

I've lowered the max AC setting to 5A already....and I don't have a "silver leaf" in our coach. Only the Trace RG-7 GS for the inverter. Not sure if I understand how to watch the AC amps. The Trace manual for the inverter is difficult to understand (for me!).

The coach will not run on a GFCI. Move it to a non GFCI.

One other I just thought of is what are you using to switch from 20 amp plug to 50 amp? Most likely a 50 to 30 amp dog-bone and then a 30 to 15/20 amp plug. The 30 amp to 50 amp may be an issue as it ties the the 2 feeds together since anything below 50 amp only has 1 feed. Do you have another dog-bone? Know anyone you get borrow one from to test?

If not plug the 20 amp adapter in and check voltage, then plug dog-bone into it and recheck, make sure you have 110 to ground on both legs of the dog-bone 50 amp plug.

Go to a hardware store (Home Depot) and they have surge protector testers. Yes, I have one.

I had an issue with a 2002 Allure. It turned out to be a loose ground wire connection behind the plug that the power cord plugs into on the side of the motorhome.
if all else fails you might check that all the connections are good on the back side of the power cord receptacle.
