Autocharge and holding tank settings

Yahoo Message Number: 113644
Hi,
Its been years since I've posted but here goes. I have a new to me 2006 Magna and after several attempts to contact Silverleaf and posting on their forum I've given up on them. I'm hoping that with the combined expertise of this forum I might get some answers. Here are a few of the many questions I have:

1 - Autocharge - On my old 2003 Allure I was able to set the generator to autostart whenever the house batteries were below 12 Volts. With the 2006 Magna neither the Total Coach System nor the Silverleaf VMS 200EL allow me to access the Autocharge option.

My steps have been as follows:
VMS - Select SPEC once and land on the Genstart Status page where the only thing selectable is the Sync to VMS. The page shows AutoCharger disabled and I cannot scroll to the AutoCharger line.
I then press SPEC again and I land on the Genstart Settings page, I scroll down to highlight AutoCharger push the button then land on the highlighted disabled option. I turn the nob but it I cannot change the disabled to enabled.
Am I supposed to be able to select AutoCharger from the status page or is there somewhere else you go to change that setting?

2 - My fresh, grey and black holding tank readings are off. Does anyone have the setting and instructions on how to calibrate the setting. I know that I can set the number of inches for 1/4, 3/4 and full from the diagnostic screen, however, I don't know the correct calibrations. I've also seen conflicting info on how large the gray and black water tanks the really are. My owners manual says 50 gallons while a 2006 Magna 630 brochure I saw says 70 gallons for the black and grey.

Do you have Xantrex SW 3012 inverters? You may not have the Silverleaf software to do auto genstart. The Xantrex inverter/charger needs to talk to the genstart module via the Xanbus system.

On the tanks, I have attached the specs for the tanks using the old software (pdf file below, page 3 and 4). If it doesn't come thru, email me and I will help. Our coaches are pretty close in number.

With the new software you have to use an Omniscope to set the resistance settings to get them to work. It's only $100 or so, pretty powerful tool. although it is not Windows 10, more like machine language, so you have to be very careful (slow) not to screw things up. You might be able to dig pretty deep with the Total Coach Monitor (behind driver's seat) and get to the tank calibration, but I don't know. I'm very happy with the Omniscope.

Give Mark Overholser at SilverLeaf a call (888 741 0259). He can walk you thru it all.

Greg,
Thanks for the very useful PDF, that was exactly what I was looking for. BTW, I did get it off your post and your email. I've just reset the holding tank calibrations and will report how that worked for me. I plan on purchasing a water flow meter, in the next few days, to use as I fill my holding tanks and that should confirm whether the standard calibrations worked me.

As for the inverters I have two Xantrex PS3.0 inverters. I reviewed the 2006 Country Coach Magna brochure that provides all the standard and optional features and I saw that Automatic low voltage generator start is standard (I assumed its the same as Autocharge) so the inverters, VMS and genset should be communicating with each other. However, I called Xantrex and asked specifically if the Xantrex PS3.0 would support Autogenstart and tech support said no. They did mention that if I wanted auto genstart it would have to be external to the Xantrex PS3.0.

Tomorrow I shall reach out to Mark Overholser. One thing that disturbs me is that the online documentation for the PS3.0 inverter does not mention anything about auto genstart as an option.

Again thanks to all who replied.

The following is a piece of information that has not bin verified. I have an 06 Intrigue
12047. My RS 3000 could not communicate with my VMS. I talked with the VMS
and they said that Xantrex company would not provide the generator interface info
To them since they were working on their own interface. I gave up on the
Autostart feature . Bob

I have a2006 magna with total coach system the autogen start and auto charge works fine I have a single xantrex 3000. I can set some functions from vms screen and some from the TCS screen. I am not totally comfortable with all aspects but silverleaf has always been very helpful.
