I have a repair appointment with Redlands Truck & RV Repair, in Redlands (east LA), CA. Any comments on your experiences with that Company. I have Room Slide Issues for them to Resolve....Karen, the phone receptionist & Chris, the service writer were very Up Beat & Helpful with every thing except when we could get into the Shop, How about 17 days out, thanks to the Quartzite RV Show..

I have no knowledge of them however, on the IRV2 Forum Colton Trucking gets great reviews.

I'm glad Craig has had positive experiences with them. And, I note that RVSERVICEREVIEWS has 111 reviews, almost all of the Excellent ratings.

That being said, I will share my perceptions:

-When we first bought our coach, I called Redlands and Colton to get rough costs to double flush my Allison 3000 to change to Transyn TES-295, an all wheel alignment, and a full LOF. The ball park quoted from Redlands was significantly higher then Colton. So I tried to ask the Service Writer to help me understand a few of the larger differences. For example, why their All Wheel Alignment was just under three times higher then Colton's. Well, the answer that Colton does not do it right, and that I'm paying for their expertise. I followed up with another question, and he basically cut me off, and said to: Make your Reservation, we'll take good care of you, and that's the price of owning a DP.

(Went to Colton, and was pleased. But note, Colton is Chassis engine generator related, not much if any Coach related service, as I understand it.)

-About three years ago at a FMCA rally, I walked over to the Redlands Booth, and hovered on the fringes listening to their staff talking to different owner's. I knew enough that a few were blowing smoke up these Owners behinds. (Not the only one, the gent standing next to me laughed at something one of them said. And the gent he said to, point blank told him he did not believe what he was just told - and walked off. After less then 10 mins of me listening to several conversations, I walked away thinking 'Snake Oil Salesman'.

I want to stress I've never had any work done by them. Never been to their shop. And 111 RVSERVICEREVIEW's, if all are honest posts, reflect they have several customers happy with their service.

Me, my experiences of the call, and watching the sales staff in action - well, I suppose my opinion is known:)!

I wish those that go to them nothing but the best, and recall the old X-File's 'Trust No One', and other saying's like 'Trust by verification.', or one of my Dad's favorite sayings to us kids growing up 'Trust is earned, be sure they're worthy before doing so.' (People, and businesses:)!).

Best to all,
Smitty

(And Note: It could just be me:)! For example, I think I'm in the minority of felling Bob Dickman's is a company that does not take care of their mistakes. Have posted about my bad experience when asking their well regarded Salesman Paul for input on tires. Our disagreement about needing to 'Agree to disagree' about the importance of a tires age. Of him typing something on the invoice that I had specifically not agreed to - and then never sending me my copy of the invoice as he said he would... The Manager actually lectured me on the phone, when I called to try to resolve things, about how little us RV'er's know. And then called me a liar in writing to American Express, as I disputed the charge. Not a good experience for me. And yer, many say they are 'The place to go for tires for RV's... Different strokes for different folks:)!)

It just shows how Socal has a dearth of people capable to work on our Country Coaches. I am hopeful Eric Olstrom will fill this void. If he had a big shop in Phoenix with someplace to park in back, maybe electrical service, I think many of us would drive there (5 hrs) for complex House issues we cannot fix ourselves. I still like Colton TT for chassis.

If your not happy with them you can try M & M RV repair in Chino. It's about 30 miles from Redlands. They always did a good job on my coach.

Colton does chassis work and most always I have great service and repairs.
I have heard good things about Redlands.
Lucky for me, I have the skills to repair most of my coach problems.

Just an FYI, paint and body work, Paint Department in Chino.
Fleet services in Fontana is good as well.
Please let us know how your service goes.

Colton is best around-If they'll work on your room. They typically stay away from the coach problems-but if they do slides, I'd trust them. I've never been to Redlands but has a good friend who went in with a single problem and one that was created by them. Some else mentioned M & M in Chino and I too used them. They know what their doing and are reasonable. I currently use American in Orange, CA and find them very good. Had I not moved closer to the beach, I would of used Colton for chassis and M & M for coach. We are lucky to have a bit of RV talent in the area. I would call off Redlands.

Never been there never heard of them but I have been to Colton and I can assure you, for chassis work on Country Coaches (not house systems) they are one of the most competent places in the country. They know Country Coach chassis in and out. The neighborhood they are in, however, leaves a great deal to be desired. As long as you can leave your coach and go stay somewhere else it's not an issue. If there is some minor problem with their work you will have to go back there though, they won't pay anybody else to fix it.
