Ruined Carpet

Yahoo Message Number: 8629
I had an incident which I have not seen discussed on the board before. My Wabaso Furnace leaked antifreeze and water on the living room carpet, which needless to say ruined the carpet and pad beneath it. Apparently the fluid leak where the hose meets the regulator under the kitchen stove. This leaves me with 2 questions 1. has anyone else experienced this problem and 2. has anyone changed out the carpet in their coach that could provide tips on what to look out for? I am currently located in the Florida Panhandle (Pensacola area), so if you know of a good shop within a couple of hundred miles I would appreciated it. The coach is currently being pressure tested to ensure integrity of the Heating/cooling system.

Thanks for your time

John,

Sorry for your problem. Antifreeze is toxic and smellely, make sure you clean and nutralize the plywood floor. It may take a while to get the moisture content of the wood down to normal. Removal of the antifreeze may be more of a problem than carpet replacement. We had a fitting leak underneath. A puddle in the dirve way gave it away.
I took three times to get it sealed. CC recommeded using a sealant like Pertex on the fitting. You may want to do the same. I am supprised that you had a failure at this point in time. Leaks around fitting can dry out and heat and cold cause movement. I guess we all need to add those internal check behind the stove. Your story will help others, thanks and keep us posted on getting back on the road.
