Best route from Arizona to North Carolina

In your experience, what is the best route from Eastern Arizona to Jacksonville, NC?

I have just over 5 weeks start to finish, leaving 4/2/18 and arriving 5/9/18. I'm always up for stopping at National Parks & Monuments.

Are you near I-40 or I 10? I would take I-10 all the way to the east coast to avoid possibe snow and ice on I 20 this time of year till you reach I-95 and turn North. Then you turn off on HWy 74 to Wilmington and then to 17 to Jackson ville. Now if you wait till late March or April. I would take I-10 to I-20 and then head east through Dallas to Augusta georgia and then on to I 95 heading NE to Black Swamp. Turn there on 74 to Wilmington and on to Jacksonville as before. Traveling time is about 35 hours or 2200 miles one way and closer to 2600 miles the southern way. I don't like to travel much over 400 miles day. So that would mean Las Cruces the first stop. Then Mid Land Odessa if going I 20 or Ozona on I-10. Then Dallas on 20 and San Antonio on I-10. Houston is a pain and you might have to stay there if you catch traffic at at the wrong time. Then on ward. I'd bypass N orleans unless you want to stop and have fun. Anyway there lots to see and do. You might want to take a side trip to Fredricksburg Texas off I-10 its a great place to vist after the weather warms up a bit. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

What ever you do, don't even think about going near Raleigh on I-40 .Last year on our trip to the OBX it took us three hours to go twenty miles and it wasn't because of an accident either!!!

We're nearer to I-10. We'll leave here early April, and do slow-ish travel through the Southern portion of the country.

So either route should be fine for the motor home? Which is more interesting, I-10, or I-40/20?

More to see on I-10 like San Antonio and Fredericksburg a great place to stay in Kerrville at the Buckhorn Lake Resort. In New Mexico stay Hacienda Resort and go to Messilla just a mile down the road and eat at the Double Eagle. There is some unique shopping there in Messilla also. Houston is not bad if you avoid drive times. In Louisiana I-10 from Lafayette to Beau Bridge the road is a wash board. NewOrleans is interesting and a good place to stay is pontchatrain landing real close to that French Quarter. If avoiding New Orleans take the I-8 bypass at the end of March there is a Country Coach Rally at the Pontchtrain Landing March 20-25. In Mississippi take a detour and get on hwy 90 in Pass christian and take to Biloxi. Got casino along the if you like to gamble. The tunnel in mobile is a hoot in a motorhome, but an interesting ride. When you get to Florida we usually stay a a secure road side park just after entering the state or go on to Pensacola or Destin. Tallahassee is a good place for next day it is a long trip across the panhandle you will think you're back in Texas. Hope this helps.
