No Power at Generator panel

Hello Camper Friends,
I looked through the user group files & messages and could not find what I needed so here goes. There's no power to my generator to start it. All Batteries are good, 3/4th of a tank of diesel, coach is mostly level. checked fuses and breaker at the generator all appears to be good. I'm not reading any power (from the batteries, checked with Multimeter) coming in to the back of the Generator (connectors look good too). Onan Generator was just serviced @ 4 months ago with no problems. Coach itself runs with no problems. Not sure where to look next, starting to believe it's not the generator. Generator troubleshooting guide was useless especially now that I believe it is something external to the generator. Thanks for your help in advance.

Check the ground connection, then follow the positive cable back to the batteries, looking for a battery disconnect.

Alex, did you find the problem. I had the same problem on my 08 Affinity last week. I discovered two tripped breakers in the electrical bay between the rear wheels.

For my coach, there is a 105 amp circuit breaker for the generator located in the electrical bay.. If your setup is similar, try to find that circuit breaker.

Yes, you have to lay down in the rear bay and remove the cover to access. My breakers are on the drivers side edge, they are the top two breakers. Why they used two breakers on the same line baffles me. If one trips, the other follows. You will not find power on the power studs on the bottom rear of the genset. Good luck.

Your 2000 Affinity is probably similar to my 2000 Magna and all locations I talk about are based on my coach; 40 feet, no tag.

Did you check the 12 volts to the generator by measuring from the positive connection at the generator and chassis ground? You might have a bad ground running to the generator.

Assume you have 12 volt house voltage inside the ooach. If not, there is a 200 amp breaker in the compartment behind the battery bay or in the battery bay itself. Check that breaker and check for power at both sides of the breaker. From that breaker there is a wire running to the electrical bay that is attached to the house battery disconnect solenoid. The generator gets its power from the hot side of that solenoid through a 105 amp circuit breaker.

The house battery disconnect solenoid and 105 amp circuit breaker for generator power is in the electrical bay forward of the first compartment. I have to remove a panel from the forward wall of that compartment to access the electrical bay.

If the breaker is not tripped, check for voltage on both sides of the breaker to make sure you are getting voltage to that point.

Let us know what you find.
