Relatively rookie question.

07 Magna 630. Sitting on side of house plugged into 30 shore. Winter freeze over (even though it never got much below 30 these last few months.)

Aquahot (both diesel and electric) is turned off. Thermostat in kitchen (all three zones) also turned off.

Just running some space heaters plugged into regular wall outlet to keep chill out of the air.

The aquahot panel down in the aquahot bay reads Zone 4 as green/running and Pump 2 also green/running.

Assuming a) that's to maintain plumbing bay around 50-some degrees as that's the VMS panel has been reading.

But b) if AH has both electric and diesel switch in the off position.... what is powering Zone 4? Light bit of power just from shore ? And if so what's it doing to keep that little bit of heat on? Small fans?

A finned tube in the wet bay keeps it warm. The hot boiler fluid goes thru the tube, and it radiates heat, utilizing the fins for greater heat transfer efficiency into the wetbay. There are no fans. You can adjust the temperature of the bay with a little control knob on the upper right corner of wetbay (behind velcro cover), that regulates the amount of hot fluid flowing thru the tube. There is a bit of an offset, so you can play with it, maybe try to drop it down to 40F. I think 50F is too high.

Thanks Greg. That wouldn't explain why Zone 4 and Pump 2 are still appearing operational (green light) even though the Aquahot is turned off (electrical and diesel.) You think maybe I should get out a paperclip and reset the AH Panel?

Yes, try resetting it. It may be your control board not reading correctly. The manual says when switching from HydroHot to AquaHot they jumpered together pumps 2 and 3. Pump 3 is the stir pump. So when your control board says zone 4, pump 2 on, can you hear the pump running? Or feel vibration? Is there any hot fluid coming downstream of the check valves (warm hose)? I think, if you went thru a low voltage episode, it can cause the unit to do some squirrely things, so the reset should fix that. Maybe also a hard "power off, sit for 30 sec, power on", with the circuit breaker to reset some things.

After that, go to rvhydronicheaterrepair.com and search the forum for someone with issues like yours. It is excellent, and Roger Berke will help you as well.

Thanks Greg. Read the AH Manual and Zone 4 is referenced often as an Optional Heating Zone. The other thing I wonder is (here comes the admission of "complete rookie.") Could the Zone be calling for heat, in turn running Pump 2 simply because in the bath hallway I have the Thermostat ON, yet all three zones are OFF (not calling for gas nor electric). So the system being set at 52 (again even though each zone of the thermostat is off) and the interior being around 50.... the thermostat is "calling" for heat, hence Zone 4 green lit.

I kind of doubt it. I think your control board is misbehaving. I would do the hard reset and start over.

It should be an aquahot heater. That causes the circulation pump to run to keep hot water flowing to it.
