Clear coat touch-up - - seeking advice

Yahoo Message Number: 114689
Greetings campers!

I discovered some peeling of the clear coat above the round at the top of the rear cap (out of sight from the ground). Since it is not in a conspicuous location, my main goal is to prevent further peeling (i.e. it doesn't need to be a cosmetic masterpiece). I plan to sand it and repair it with spray can clear coat.

Has anyone successfully done this, and can you please share any tips before I make a mess?

I understand the difference between one-component (1K) and two-component (2K) clear coat. I would like to use 1K... don't want to monkey with the toxicity of the 2K. Is that a good choice?

Any sage advice will be welcome.

Be safe and stay well,

We have the same problem on our 2006 Inspire 360. We spent several days along side a beautifully kept older coach in Colorado last year, and had a good discussion with the owner about how he maintained it. He looked at our coach, told me he would sand it with sand paper (800 or finer,) mask it well, get the spray clear coat using our touch up paint code, and redo it down to the rounded molding.

He showed me where he had done that sort of job on his coach, and it looked very good to me. We have not done it yet, but plan to.

Please keep us posted on your work!
