Bouncy Ride

We have a 36-foot 2002 Intrigue. The other day we were out and about with 4 destinations during the day. On the first leg of our drive, all seemed normal with our ride. On the 2nd leg, we commented that the ride seemed excessively bumpy and harsh. On the 3rd leg, the coach was driving very smooth which was a good thing, but confusing since it had been rough earlier in the day. But then on the final leg, the coach began bouncing like we were on a pogo stick even at fairly low speeds.
Some years ago, our original Koni shocks were worn and we replaced them with Road Kings. We were very unhappy. Road King reworked the shocks twice and we were still not really happy with the ride. Road King blamed it on the way the 36-foot chassis was built. We finally returned the front Road Kings and went back to Koni which was not the greatest ride, but it was acceptable. So now we have Road King in the rear and Koni SP3 (I think) up front.
So what would cause the sudden onset of extreme bouncing (I mean really extreme) and what checks should I try? I haven't crawled underneath yet.

That has happened to my coach twice in the past 18 years. Both times the ride height valves malfunctions. Manually brought it to ride height and pulled the fuse. The next day it worked fine. Both times that this happened, we were in very wet weather.

Check the ride height control valve Int eh front. Have the same thing happen to us in our Intrigue 3 years ago. You should also have the two rear one as well.

If you do lose the front valve, you can pull the airlines from it, insert a T in between them and run a third airline out to the side place an air valve on it, and fill the bags manually. I would use not much more than 60 pounds.

You have company in your problem. The bouncy situation in my case was as a result of having the coach serviced. The facility had to raise the rear of the coach to service axel seal. In my opinion they used the HWH system to raise the coach as far as they could to access room to get their jacks under. The road clearance on our Intrigue 36 foot 2000 coach is low to start with. 275/70 tires.

Point being, the ride height was way too high and I did not notice it until I was about to enter an interstate highway. It was a very dangerous situation, steering was difficult , and I immediately pulled off the side of the road and re leveled the coach manually .
Point of all this is a ride height valve caused problem.
It goes to the wise recommendation made by experts, to have look at the clearance above your tires before starting on a trip. develop some sort of convenient quick test for recognizing what looks right.

Maybe a stupid question but if you have a tag axel are you putting it down before you put air system in travel mode?

Good chance a 36' is without a tag.

And the time we felt we were in a Wooden Wagon Straight Axle with Wood Wheels - the front Height Valve had gone out...

The tag axle must be down before the HWH system will give you a green "travel mode" light. And should you forget to lower the tag, the system will do it automatically when your speed exceeds 6 or 7 mph. For me the reminder is always that I put it in travel mode and get no green light. Bingo - put the tag down, dummy!

Also: the last item on my pre-departure checklist is a quick walk around to check lights and ride-height. Probably a good idea...

The fuse in under the dash on the passenger side. I have the panel on hinges for easy access. It has been about 6 years since I have had
to pull it so my old memory is not working, but I believe it is 7.5 amps
