DC fuses needing to be reset when turning on lights while AC running

Coach: 2006 Country Coach Inspire 360 Siena, coach number 51807.

Question: I have an issue where the lights in the galley area work fine unless I am running the AC. When running the AC, if I turn on one of the galley lights it does not turn on, the power to the thermostat drops and the AC turns off. You are probably thinking a fuse was blown (at least that was what I thought). The fuse is okay and upon re-insertion of the same fuse the power to the thermostat is restored and the AC can be used once again. Today I had the same thing happen when I turned on one of the lights in the bedroom. This light is on a different circuit so it turned on but the same thing happened (no power to the thermostat/air conditioner turned off). Upon removal and re-insertion of the fuse the power to the thermostat was restored and the air conditioning is running once again.

I am happy to get my voltmeter out but I am not sure even where to start.

I welcome any and all suggestions the forum may have.

check all your connections on rear of your 12 volt fuse block, had the same problem on my 2006 inspire, it was a burned wire and bad connection to fuse block. repaired burned wire and bad connection and problem solved.

common problem with all our models......have had numerous bad connections on back side of fuse block. The fuse will check good, but the wire crimp on back side of fuse is where the problem is......I have a bag full of said terminals for the Bussmann fuse blocks.

Notorious problem on our coaches -- both the house fuse boxes and front run bay fuse boxes, although I think the larger 20A circuits are more of a problem. I have seen this bad connection problem in the back of the Bussman fuse box for the following circuits - BR lights, HydroHot fans, HWH chassis fuse, HWH ignition fuse. The house failures can be frustrating, but the HWH failure where you cannot get in travel mode and stuck in a lowered position in campsite will get your attention! These can also be a fire hazard as the insulation is burned. I have replaced both of my Bussman house fuse boxes in the galley and am considering the same for the front run bay, but they are much more work, so watchful waiting for now... I did install inline bypass fuses for power to the HWH brain.

Interesting thread. My issue is my HWH slide rooms will often not extend or retract. I turn on the key switch, yellow light illuminates, press extend or retract, red light that indicates power to hydraulic pump motor illuminates but nothing moves. I remove and re-insert the 20 amp 'slide room power' fuse from the fuse block in hallway and slides usually then work for a few cycles.

That said, the last time this happened, removing and re-inserting that fuse did not work. I tried cycling the salesman's switch and the slides started working. My local RV repair shop has suggested I might have an intermittent motor relay or maybe a flat spot in the motor. I have an appointment to take the coach in for diagnostics.

After reading this thread, I will pull that fuse block and inspect the connections.

I went to the coach in my storage facility with the intention of checking the Bussman fuse box/panel. I removed four screws securing the panel but there is not enough slack in the mass of wires going to it to pull it forward more than about 1/2". I can see the back of the panel by looking inside the cabinet under the sink in the toilet room but I could not effectively work with it from that area. What I could see with a flashlight looking from under the sink did not reveal any suspicious connections.

I am sure all the electrical panels in that wall were placed and wired before the toilet room was built out so not sure how you can effectively access the back of that fuse panel.

There are big red "amp plugs" that can be unplugged to remove the fuse box. Pretty easy inside the coach, but in the front run bay it looks bleak... you would have to cut about 50 cable ties... That's why I replaced the inside boxes and try to repair each circuit for front run bay boxes.
