Check Eng. Light

I have an 08 Magna with the 600 Cummins. When decending hills with the eng. brake on, I get a check engine light. After I stop and restart the engine it goes out. Anyone have the same issue?

Your SilverLeaf will tell you what the engine code was - which should then help diagnose the issue...

I assume you have checked your oil and coolant levels. I use to have that issue descending Wolf Creek pass heading west. I learned if at the top of the grade I would reduce my speed from 50 to 43 to catch the 3rd gear and with just a touch of brake to keep the RPM.s below 2400 I would be fine and no yellow lights. I have a ISL which is a smaller higher revving engine. Later I found out it was a Sauer Dan foss fan controller issue. When I went with the Scientific Systems wax valve replacement my engine was running 10 to 15 degrees cooler at the top of the hill climbing up and had no issues winding to 2600 RPM going down. I imagine the RpM limit on your engine with out fuel being applied is lower 2300 maybe. But I would have some one check your fan system for proper functioning. TWInsall 2004 Intrigue 11731

My 08 Allure had a similar problem occur once and hasn't done it again in the last 2 years. When it happened to me, the engine died and 2 oil pressure faults came up on the Silverleaf.

I have the same issue that only happens on a long decent. As soon as the "jake" is turned off the "check eng" light goes out and all is normal. I do not stop and I believe it's just a quirk of the system. Only happens on LONG decent.

Maybe on a descent your RPM has gone above 2100. On my C-12 that's the recommended max.
