Gentleman???

Hit hail and need two new shrouds for roof units. Has anyone replaced theirs or have knowledge as to the level of difficulty to remove and replace?

Dan,
The A/C shrouds are easy to replace just a few screws. On my 03 Allure I had to replace one that blew off while driving. Stopped at a Camping World along the way and they sold me a new shroud. Was back on the road in less than an hour.

We replaced ours at the same time we did out Solar. They had started to get cracks around the screw holes. I added EternaBond tape to the inside which helped for about 18 months, but they are getting more and more brittle.

You can get generic covers to fit, but I found that the OEM unit was more substantial. So for our Penquin II's 15K units, I ordered OEM replacements. I also added the EternaBond tape to inside where the screws attache for more strength. And at Ace, found about 1/2" rubber coated/backed washers, this helps spread the load out on the hole.

Finally, as we were doing the BusKote, we had the shop go ahead and coat the new shrouds with it too. Figure UV is as damaging as the vibration stress of going down the road at 60MPH... So the coating should give these longer life - I hope.

Hope that was the only damage, and that your Jeep is OK!
Best to you and Linda,

Just replaced mine on 05 Allure. 4 screws is all that holds them on.

Re: AC-Heat Pump Shroud
Just replaced two of ours. About $100 apiece for the OEM Dometic version. Our Duo Therm Penguin heat pump model number is 630515.321and 3308046.006 isthe shroud part number. Replacing ours was a little more involved than implied earlier. There is a foam strip that needs to be attached to the heat pump or to the shroud that acts as a gasket to keep the conditioned air separate from the not conditioned air within the heat pump apparatus. The foam strip with adhesive backing comes with the shroud along with instructions. If a creaky 74 year old like me can do it, anyone can.

Thanks, I was wondering if there was some gasket kit that had to be ordered with the should. PPL wants $157 plus $9 shipping so you got a good deal.

I don't think the Jeep is going to be as cheap.

Amazon is not my default vendor of choice but I did get mine there. They have our model there now for $96 and change and free shipping. Being newer yours may not be the same. Here's the link.

Mine is a Coleman and it has three mounting screws where most have four. I have found a source for $132 plus $9 shipping.

Thanks for the help.
