Generator rail lubrication

I'm interested in what folks use to lubricate the rollers/rails that the generator slides out on. It would appear as if a 'grease' has been applied in the past and I have not been keeping up on maintaining it. I have never encountered a problem with extending or retracting the generator but felt like I should be re-lubing the rails from time to time.

Wayne,

The rollers are easily removed (one at a time). If you move the generator slide out or in you will find a location where most rollers will not have any weight on them and they can be removed easily. (You may have to use a bottle jack on a couple for support) After you have one out it can be taken apart, cleaned, greased and put back together. I use regular wheel bearing grease. Just takes a few minutes for each roller. Very easy to do. No need to grease the rails. All this does is collect dirt.

The rollers came from the manufacturer with provisions to grease them but CC sealed the holes, on mine anyway, and probably yours also so you have to take them apart to grease them as the are sealed. You can see what they did after they are cleaned up.

Have fun,

These rollers are simple "cam Fowler bearings" that can be bought on Amazon. They make a stainless steel version for the deep pocket guys but the pocket change versions last 5-8 years, depending on miles traveled.
I replaced all of mine, (6) for less than a couple cases of Corona! Very simple to change out. FYI

Do you still have the link on Amazon? I couldn't find them.

Thanks
