Where to go for service/repair in the Eugene area

We usually spend some time each year in southern California and have been very pleased with the coach service that we get at Colton Truck Terminal. We've been using them for years and they seem to know their way around the Country Coach chassis.
We are going to be back in the Eugene/Junction City area and have a few coach related problems that need repair and service and would be open to suggestions as to who would be best for addressing some very annoying issues.
  • First is the generator that will start and run just fine but it won't shut off from either of the inside switches and we have to go out to the generator to shut it down. Colton already checked every accessible wire, ground, and switch and concluded that it must be a broken wire in the harness to the generator.
  • The Travel Mode seems to operate intermittently, mostly not working at all so I have to manually level the coach and disconnect the Travel Mode. I have checked all the fuses and voltages in the HWH control box and the solution eludes me and I have talked to HWH tech support.
  • Our Hurricane Heater (CO45-DRF furnace) needs servicing (which a lot of people do themselves, but I'm looking for a facility to service it).
So I have a list of places in the Eugene/Junction City area like Premier RV, OMC, Carrier, and K&M but I don't know who would be best for addressing the 3 issues that I have identified. I'm prepared for the repair costs, but scared to death of the hours of troubleshooting.

I too use Colton for my chassis, they are great. I think the generator issue is more a Silverleaf control issue rather than chassis issue, so they are not so good with that. Talk to Silverleaf. Depending on the vintage of software, there are some easy DIY fixes for that. On your HWH, I suspect it is the Bussman fuse boxes in front run bay. The fuse checks ok, and you do show power, but that is not power under load, not enough current to run system. I put in inline fuses for both of the circuits there (chassis, ignition). Since then, no problems. These Bussman fuse boxes are notorious to have bad connections behind the fuses. They can be repaired with Waytek fuse hardware and tools, but those front run bay boxes are a PIA to remove to access the back. Inline fuses seem to work fine. If you need your hydronic heater repaired/serviced in SoCal, call Howards RV Repair, Wayne Howard, 909 227 3904. He is mobile so will come out to your coach. He flushed 12 years of sediment out of my HydroHot during last service, unbelievable, I'm surprised it even worked at all.

I would go to Cummins Northwest for the genset. When mine failed Dave at OMC pulled the unit and it was taken to Cummins in Coburg, when the unit was repaired it was returned and installed.

I had two issues with two different coaches. The first where the coach didn't shift properly and the second was holding spedd going down grades. Called Allison on the first issue ad they gave my tech clues and hefixed the control cable between the ECM of the engine and the transmission. The second isue ary at Allison in Cohburg reprogrammed my 3000 World Transmission.

I know Chris Synder has fixed them successfully but he is no longer in Eugene. Eric , too he's in Tucson. Bob Vinson 541-543-5625 near Junction has done work for me many times on my Hydro-hot and he'll be straight with you.

Jim Cooley has left OMC and moved over to Premiere, so he might be able to help you there.

I hate to say this but ts all going to depend if their are true former techs working at the facilities I mentioned. BOB Vinson has all the knowledge whether he can pull the genset if necessay is the Question. TWInsall 2004 Intrigue 11731

We're very lucky to live in Portland and have made the two hour drive to Premiere in several occasions. In fact they're the only folks who we have work on our coach.

Bob Vinson has taken care of our coach since we purchased it in 1999. If he cannot fix a particular problem, he will send you to someone there in the area who specializes in the area in question. Bob is excellent in every respect: (541) 870-6233.
