Remove Cornice Boards in Allure 2000

Yahoo Message Number: 116752
HI, We are new Country Coach owners of a 2000 Allure. I want to restring some of my day/night blinds, where the string is broken. I saw some videos on youtube on how to restring blinds and I know I can get a kit a camping world. What I can't figure out is how to get the cornice boards off. On our coach, the cornice boards are on the top, sides and bottom of the blinds. So to get the blinds off, I need to remove the cornice board.

Looking from underneath, I do see several screws, but I haven't been able to figure out (or feel for) the screws at the top, and maybe on the sides.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips to help me find how the cornice boards are attached?

Thanks,
Beth of RV Grace Land

You do not need to remove anything to remove the blinds.

There are clips holding the blinds in place. You do have to stand on your head to see up into the recess. I have not done it but have seen it done on a couple of occasions.

Yes, you can remove blinds from the clips, just push on the tabs on clips ( near glass). Putting back is more of a challenge. Sometimes if you open the window and hang out some you can see better.

Don't need to, look closely at the clips that attach the blinds at the top. They have a spring clip that you can release with a flat blade screw driver.

Thanks, I'll have a look and see if I can find the clips.

Much appreciated,

Hi,
If your Allure is similar to our 2001 Intrigue, the shades are clipped into a bracket which is attached to the valance. Reach up with a flat blade screwdriver and release the latches (usually 2) and the shade will drop out. Take a hand mirror to look under there.

One more thing. Check "fix my shades " website for info and supplies. Much cheaper to buy the string in bulk on a spool. You will probably have more shades to restring. Not a big job really if you have a countertop to lay the shade on. I've done several. Don
