2004 Allure - Rearview mirror needs attention

Yahoo Message Number: 116800
2004 CC Allure - the rearview mirrors are losing the chrome on the base and the mirror housing. Any suggestions on how to repair this without having to buy new mirrors and assembly? Not sure but don't think this can be powder coated.
Thanks

Two suggestions, depending on coach color scheme:

1) Remove the mirror head, and unmount the arm and base. Call your area Harley Davidson, and ask who they use locally for chrome plating. (The shop will probably bead blast, maybe walnut shell blast. Then chrome.) I say Harley, as Harley owner's are picky, and most shops have gone thru the area vendors to find the higher quality, which usually does not equate to the lowest cost, plating business.

2) If your coaches paint scheme is one color where the base attaches - consider Powder Coating to the base and arm to match the color.

Also, some places will allow you to send in your other then chrome damaged base and arms to re-chrome, and send you a used but re-chromed set in exchange. (Now I say that, because I was told other had done that before. But I did a quick Google, and nothing obviously jumped off. But, I only spent 45 seconds or so with different search options. So that may still be an option.)

Best of luck to you,

They are pot metal and can be re-chromed depending on how bad the condition.

I took mine off and had them sand blasted or whatever then had sprayed with a truck bed liner product. I then had stairs and roof done. Roof was done in a color to match the coach. No more streaks and my stairs have no rust and I have no money left but I love the results.
