How can I get an HDMI cable to rear bedroom.

Yahoo Message Number: 116987
I have not been able to get a signal on my rear (bedroom) TV on my 2002 Allure since we had modification of the front end and a replacement flat screen put in. We have decided to put an HD flat screen in the bedroom and wondering if anyone has tried running a HDMI cable from the Directv receiver in the front, to the TV in back using the AC chase. Or is their a better way to get the cable to the back? Thanks.

When I did mine I put a Directv box in the bedroom and hooked the HDMI up in there. Just hooked the original cable into it.

I used one of those wireless Genie things. Haven't found any problems with it yet.

I ran a 50 foot HDMI cable under my coach to the rear cap area then into the TV cabinet and it works fine but it needed a powered splitter to feed the signal to both front and rear TV.
The HDMI is run in a ¾" pvc electrical conduit under the coach.

I ran a Romex cable about 30-35 feet mostly through the chassis on our coach. I used the flexible water proof conduit and put the romex in BEFORE running it through the chassis. With bends and turns in the conduit it could be difficult to push a cable through. I wouldn't use the A/C or heat chase.

I use a different approach for distributing the DirecTV receiver output to other parts of the coach and outside.patio. In my home, where I have multiple DirecTV receivers, I still use the approach I am about to describe, because there are times where I want identical, in-sync distributed to all locations, including pausing a show, without the hassle of long expensive HDMI cables. Those darn DirecTV Genie receivers are never in sync, and if you pause one, the others don't pause.

Solution for the coach: Use HDMI from your DirecTV receiver to the nearby Front TV. Take the non-HDMI A/V output from the DirecTV receiver and install a modulator to convert the signal to RF on some available channel. In our home/coach, I picked channel 20. This signal can be distributed on the existing coax within the coach. At the remote location (bedroom, patio) in the coach, just watch channel 20. It will be in perfect sync with the front TV running on HDMI. Picture definition is not as good as the HDMI, but is very acceptable for news, game shows, Hallmark movies, etc.

In our home, we can watch separate shows if desired with DirecTV (tune TV to HDMI connectioon to the room's DirecTV receiver). But when I want to be able to walk from the Living Room to the Den, I like being able to hear and see, in perfect sync, the live or recorded shows with the TV turned to AIR channel 20. Usually all of our TVs (except the Living Room) are tuned to the RF modulated channel 20

I sort of had the same problem. I have an '03 Affinity and when I purchased it had already had an upgrade of front TV...unfortunately the pioneer dvd was all that was connected, allowing my no HDTV other than that which cam from the TV itself and would not play through stereo to give me theater sound. I installed a 4K xbox in bedroom and ran a cable to the front TV so all would play through stereo. I started with an HDMI cable (60' 4K rated)...it didn't work so well and 2 weeks later pulled a cat 6 cable and installed the hdmi-cat6 boxes at each end. You have to tunnel through the foam from rear passenger side A/C vent to entertainment cabinet and again from the passenger side front A/C vent into the space above tv cabinet and then into cabinet above passenger seat. If you only use hdmi cable you won't need this last step. Cables pull very easily though A/C ducting. The only work involved is the tunneling through the foam.
Good luck!

Thanks for all of your great suggestions. I am investigating the Directv genie wireless and if I don't think that is a great option, then I will do the cabling.

With a Genie (either wireless or wired via coax), when you watch the same channels, the sound will not be in perfect sync (but about a second or two out of sync). Also, when you pause the front unit, the Genie does not pause (for example of you are watch the same show in front and back).

To me, the reason you would want Genie in the bedroom is so you and watch your "man" channel while the wife watches her :chick" channel in the front. If you are going to watch the same channel on both TVs, then why waste the time and $$ running a HDMI cable? The set in the bedroom isn't large enough to see a difference in signal from a coax to HDMI.

I have ordered an rf modulator as suggested by Herb. I will hook that up and use the coax from front to back and see how that goes with the old tv. Then, we plan on putting a flatscreen in the bedroom. Then we should be in business.

We use Dishnetwork and the Hopper.  Add a Joey to the rear and no wires needed.Tom2005 Inspire 51177  Sent from Mail for Windows 10
