persistent low driver side rear issue

Hi All,

Have air leveling on my Tribute, and have had a worsening issue with the
driver side rear of coach being too low and never quite coming up to
level even when HWH leveling says it is. In early December, had that
side rear ride height valve replaced (by local Freightliner dealer who
is an Allison shop and I'd gone there to get tranny serviced). Seemed to
still be somewhat low when I brought it home, but I drove then parked it
per usual and thought nothing about it.

Today I went to take it out (I try to drive it for an hour or so every
3-4 weeks during winter) that left rear was really low and did not come
up well at all during system warm up- barely raised at all and was
visibly quite low compared to rest of coach.

Took it out briefly, and (this I believe is unrelated) the HWH system
light (travel mode) kept going out but would come back on when I pushed
the travel mode button. The ride was bumpy, leveling system obviously
had an issue, so I immediately returned home and parked.

I was able to use the manual control system to raise the left side, and
the left rear did raise but not completely to level. It did settle
somewhat soon after turning the coach off - does this indicate a leak
and if so where would it likely be?

Would love to hear ideas as to cause of the persistent low driver side
rear. The problem does seem worse in winter when coach isn't used as much.

Also, after I returned home from the brief drive today, I did a hard
reset of the HWH and the green travel light then remained on, but I did
not take it out on the road to see if it would stay on.

I do have an appointment next weekend to drop it off at my CAT shop who
does chassis work for me; any ideas I can pass on to my mechanic Steve
(Alban Cat Winchester VA) would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Carrie,

We went thru the same scenario on our '93 Magna. We replaced the ride height valves at Piedmont Fleet in Lynchburg. Things still weren't right so my husband replaced the two travel mode solenoid valves in the six-pack setup. All was good after that. He ordered the solenoid valves from HWH.

Hope that helps!

Hi Mary,
Yes thanks after speaking with your hubby at the dog show in NC we thought it was not likely the solenoid valves and more likely the ride height valve. At this point at the suggestion of David C who wrote me off list, I'm going to give HWH a call and investigate a possible sensor problem as his issue sounds just like mine and it was the sensor. Thanks for your help and hope to see you at shows this year!
