RVComfort.ZC Communications with Temperature Sensors

Folks, after years of normal service, my interior temperature monitors
have stopped interacting with one of the two zones on the control
unit. I've put in new batteries, reset the monitors by pushing the
slot on the back, even turned off the house power, hopefully to resent
the control unit; all to no avail.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Lee - Does you generation of controllers/thermostats use RJ45 jacks to connect to the AC Units? If so, look into cleaning those connections. Our 04 Allure, 2 zone, had several RJ45 phone connection jacks in the lines.... The units in the area where the chilled air came in, became moist and had mold/gunk on them. I now clean the connections yearly with electronic cleaner, and add a dab of dielectric grease to the male ends with a Q-Tip before connecting.

Interesting, Lee. By "monitors" I presume you're talking about the temp sensors located in each zone, behind little plastic covers? Ours haven't quit, but they're malfunctioning - sending inaccurate readings to the thermostat, so I've had to adjust the thermostat settings to get the interior temps right. I reset the thermostat (took the battery out, then replaced it) to no avail. I'll take my sensors off the walls so I can try your "reset" trick. If that doesn't work, I'll probably replace them. Sorry I can't offer a fix. Will be following your "cure" when it happens...

Hi Smitty. My issue is with a wireless link of the controller to the in-house temperature monitors. So now I'm thinking the wireless sensor in the controller is the problem.

Hi Don, sounds like we have the same problem. Since all the temp monitors won't function properly I'm now assuming it's the controller.

I had the same issue with where the sensors are mounted (underneath hot A/V cabinet, or the one in BR was being hit by cold air coming from A/C, or another being next to warm refrigerator, kind of dumb locations). So I bought 3 new sensors from Kevin, and moved them to better locations. Just unplug the old sensor wire from A/C control box ( under the cover like you clean the inside filter). They are the terminals marked "Room". Then plug in your new sensor to those terminals and route new sensor on long speaker wire out the inlet plenum of A/C and along the top of the ceiling trim piece. Fish the wire thru inlet plenum before you crimp on the new sensor so it will fit thru tight spots. Use double-sided tape to secure on trim piece, they won't move. So all 3 zones now have their sensors in the middle of the room on ceiling trim piece. You cannot see them. The temp for each zone is perfect now!

Had almost the same problem. Call customer service for the stat and they gave me a reset program that worked and was super easy.

I believe the units communicate using 4 conductor flat gray telephone wire. When my thermostat refused to talk to the rear AC/Heat Pump I checked all the connectors on the telephone wire. I found on one of the plugs in the rear AC the connection wires had rotted off. Replaced the plug and all was good after that. You can purchase the replacement plugs a most any electronics dealer and I had to buy the tool for crimping then on.

I have had the same problem with one zone. (1)Try new sensors, or move the sensor from a working zone to a nonworking zone and see if it makes a difference. (2) Check the connections on the thermostat. (3) Replace the thermostat (4) check connections at the nonworking ac's.

Ok, someone said it was "rotted" was this from water damage? You can make new connectors, however if u have water coming in its going to be ja dev vu all over again.

P.S. Have been doing this since 1964....have never seen "rotted"
