thermostat replacement

Yahoo Message Number: 117193
I have a 2000 36' Magna and my Thermostat is becoming a problem. It takes dozens of button pushes to change the temperature. Is there a way to clean the contacts or replace it? I can't seem to find a Duo-Therm unit that is an exact replacement. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance,

Steve,

I’ve had the same problem.  The remedy I’ve used is to carefully disassemble the thermostat and clean the contacts with contact cleaner.  There are some small springs inside the switches so I usually do this with a towel on the table to catch any stray parts.  I hope this helps.

Steve - Search for my message 105832 that was sent on 4/30/2016. It was my input after fixing this problem with my 4 button thermostat. Yell if you have any problem finding it.

I changed out my air conditioners last spring including the thermostat but the 4 button one worked perfectly for the 2 years between when I changed out the buttons and when it was removed. I sold the old A/C's and gave the buyer the old thermostat and the extra set of push button switches otherwise I would send them to you. If you are even reasonably familiar with soldering it is an easy and inexpensive fix.

Let me know if you need any additional info.
