Front Door

Yahoo Message Number: 117201
Lately we have to slam our door to close it. When I shut the door from outside the coach, it appears as though the top of the door meets the door frame but the bottom sticks out...like the door is not properly aligned. Any suggestions how to align the door? Is there an adjustment on the hinges?

Unfortunately, there is no adjustment of the hinges (I think). It is worn out bushings in the hinges. To properly fix it, I think you have to get new bushings machined. That will be major PIA. And that door looks extremely heavy. I have heard of others putting a small hard wedge/shim at bottom of the door to get it to glide up to proper alignment. Good luck. Please let us know what you end up doing. I think we will all have that problem sooner or later.

I'm not sure as I never had that problem with my 99 but as Greg mentioned I had shim mine on this 06 because the only fix that I've heard is to replace the door

To the Rescuse

Glen at OMC removed our door and cleaned up the rough and worn hinges on the door which created a gap at each hinge piece. He then took tubing which was cut to fit each gap and put the two pieces of the hinge back together and on the door. The door works like new, was not cheap (a full day job), and who knows how long before the new inserts wear out.

Hi Steve, first, are you anywhere near Quartzsite? secondly, I don't know what year coach you have, I have a 97 Allure, I'm not sure if the doors changed after Winnebago took over but on mine, there's plastic cover trim around the door frame covering the mounting screws holding the door on at the hinge, the hinge is like a standard bus hinge that has pins on the frame half pointing down with nylon bushings in the lower half to ride on, the chances of those going bad are rare but if you need them replaced they're readily available, check to see if you have a tiny white plastic ring around the top of each pin, that's the bushing, if so you're alright there, and I would then look to see if the bottom of the door is sprung causing it not to close straight, that's probably the problem and would have to be re-sprung back straight.

After a extremely strong wind sprung the door hinge I replaced it. The door is very heavy. I built a temporary stand to hold it. I was barely able to lower it from the stand to the ground. It took two people to lift it back unto the stand and align the hinge.
