Air leak from auxiliary compressor?

Yahoo Message Number: 117405
Not sure from the picture, but it looks like a relief valve for a little air line dryer for the small compressor. I have one in the compartment below the driver's seat. Normally when the leveling system has been running a while in a humid environment mine does this, but resets on it's own when I shut everything off for a while.

Sincerely

Sometimes condensation moistures will dry into little bits of crystallization, and they can keep the valve from functioning properly. Yearly cleaning of the bowl and valve usually keeps things working properly. (Of course, I travel in non humid areas:)!).

Our bowls electric valve stopped working about 3 years ago, and the air was leaking all the time. Could not level was the least of my problems. I went Yukon hardware store, and pieced together a few brass components and a machined screw with nut in it, to manually seal the valve from leaking. This would allow me to level, and to also travel, until we got back down to where a replacement valve/bowl could be delivered to me.

Best to you, and all,

Thanks Smitty. Can you tell me how to remove and clean the valve and bowl? I've never done it. Meanwhile I'll look around and see if I can find the manual.

Richard - On mine, with a glass bowl, I just unscrewed the bowl.

One tip that a seasoned Tech in Junction City told me, was to just look for evidence of dried up crystallized moisture in the bowl. He said if he did not see any evidence of this, he left the air dryer alone. If it was a solid bowl (Like I now have on mine.), he'd open it and tap upside down and look for any signs of crystalized debris. If none, he'd put the bowl back on.

Here is the replacement unit I put on when I broke the bowl in mine:)!

Richard - Sorry, I took a phone call while posting! The Junction City Tech also told me if he found crystalized debris, he'd then also go ahead and spray some white vinegar into electric valve, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and then use a air compressor blower to blow dry the valve.

I've tapped my valve out on a solid surface a the time it was impacted, and that knocked out some of the gunk. Then used a Q-Tip with CLR on it, and then sprayed distilled water into the valve before blowing it out dry.

Not sure if that is the best way, but it got the valve working again for me again:)!

Best,
