The grey plastic strip on the top of the top rail has broken. The top shower door rollers ride on it. Any idea where the replacement part can be ordered? This is the curved shower enclosure with the single sliding door.

Mil-Spec (or whoever their supplier is) is ripping all of us charging $250 for a $10 piece of plastic. Eric Olstrom of Olstrom Custom Coach has offered to find an alternate supplier if we put together a group of enough people to justify an order to another fabricator and maybe even a more durable design.

Why don't those willing to participate let me know here and we'll see if we get enough people. Just FYI: if your plastic strip hasn't cracked yet it will. It's just a matter of time. And then it will crack again after some years.

I'm in and would love to order one to have on hand just in case if the price is more reasonable.

To All Re: shower door glide;
The needed part appears to be available on eBay.
Enter 722-36 into search box. I have one on order.
Cost listed with tax & free shipping = approx $95.00
Quite a savings if all works out.

Okay folks, I spoke with Eric Olstrom a few minutes ago. I misunderstood him. He was referring to volume prices with the main supplier which would still be well over $200. I would suggest that if anyone here knows a plastic extruder who would be willing to take a look at the existing shower strip and make us something that would work, for probably 10% of what the supplier is charging, that would be the way to go. It's really not that complicated an extrusion, and actually it's not very well engineered since it doesn't last. It actually could probably be improved on in terms of the material so it doesn't get brittle and crack so easily. I replaced mine about 6 years ago and it's coming to pieces again. In fact, Eric is under the impression that the main (rip-off) supplier is now using a different improved material. So any ideas are welcome.

Rich,
Per my previous email reply to you, the EXACT replacement part is available on eBay @ approx $95.00 incl tax & free shipping. In the search box enter 722-36 and the item you need comes up eventually.
I ordered one and received it day before yesterday. The shipping tube was badly mangled by FedEx but the plastic strip was undamaged.
Yesterday I lifted the door off the track and installed the new part. Not too difficult; I found a small amount of lubricant (vaseline) applied to the groove the strip goes into was helpful. I also used a small rubber mallet to gently tap it into the groove after I had hand started it. It can be done with thumb pressure but tiring. It is a bit of a challenge to accomplish the insertion as it rounds the curve.
Lift the door back into place and you are done.
I hope this info will help all who need this part. I am glad to have an opportunity to maybe repay the group for all the good advice I have read over the years.

Brent, that is indeed very helpful information and I might buy one, but be aware it will crack again in since the material of this original one becomes brittle over time and cannot withstand the weight of the roller. As I said I've already replaced mine once and the new one has been shot for 2 years. If Eric is right, Ceasana is now making them out of a more durable material for $300. I am guessing, if that is true, the eBay sales may be the remaining stock of the old model strips. Once those are gone we will all be in the same boat, so I was suggesting a long-term solution.

I ordered one yesterday. I'll save it until my Repairs give out and change it. This one lasted 13 years, I'll be satisfied if this one does the same.
