The big “RED” Button

Yahoo Message Number: 118425
With all the this chat about where it's at, push to stop the engine,
Twist and pull out to make it work again. I have this nagging
Thought to do just that, even if mine isn't giving me a problems.
But, then that gut feeling telling me just leave it alone. It's working
(I think) as it should, cause you have screwed things up before by
Messing with things you have no idea how to fix if I break it.

Just a feeling/thought....

Safe travels y'all

The one break-down I had was caused by the fuse (up front) which cut the power to the Big Red Button...located right over the engine. That one took a while to figure out. Thank heavens for the schematic that came with the coach.

LOL! The old 'If it ain't broke, don't touch!' school of thought.

Made me chuckle, as I find too often when I'm doing supposedly 'preventative exercise' of equipment - it turns into 'OH HECK - FIX ME NOW!'...

On electronics though, especially electronics with 'contact' like materials needing to work well with each other to do whatever it is it's doing. Over time gunk/crud (Techie Talk!) can build up, and reduce or inhibit the flow of the electrical juices... (And as mentioned in the other thread, especially in areas of higher dampness/humidity.) So for mechanical like switches, a periodic exercising, and if readily available preventative cleaning and protection - is probably a wise thing to do.

I admit, I do not exercise mine deliberately (I've shared the time that I bumped it leaning into the access area to get fan belts number. And then much later when i went to fo start the coach for exercise, that ISL would turnover well, but not fire. Had Coach Net on the way - before I remembered leaning in awhile back, and went and found I had bumped it into the off position...). I do yearly cleaning of every ground connection I can find, starter wire feeds, etc., etc. And since we keep our coach usually fired up and ready to go electricity wise 7/24 (Samsung Fridge being fed power and always on.) - I now do exercise the Salesman and Chassis switches on an every three month schedule. (Waiting for the day, when the LP Detector fails to stop beeping~!).

I also use Dielectric Grease where appropriate, and on more sensitive contacts that can not handle the ever so slight added resistance - spray DioxIT Gold Spray on the contacts.

Best to all, have fun, be safe,
Smitty

I guess what gets me the most is that most of the electrical items and electronics suddenly have
2 or 3 fuses to make them work. And these fuses could be anywhere on the coach, ie: front dash
Electrical cabinet under drivers seat or under a drawer somewhere.

I know, because I caused a fuse to blow and I looked everywhere to find it. No luck, 2 hrs of paying
A service center to find it behind the breaker panel, behind a board to get it repaired. A $1.50 fuse
That cost over $250. To find and repair.

Yep, if it ain't broke, leave it alone. When I do test the "RED BUTTON" I will be in some type
Of service center who knows what they are doing.

That's just me.
