2007 CC Compartment Door Latch

Gentlemen,
I have a chrome-plated pot-metal latch handle (for one of my basement compartment doors) that has failed.
After removing the five philips screws from the backside, the following info is stamped into the internals...
2Y8 then 22875 then US Patent #519823 (must be a bogus number as the US Patent office says this patent was issued
in 1894)....but no manufacturer brand name. Has anyone else found a source
for replacements? I am in Mesa, AZ and treked east and west on Main Street and drew blank stares from
the RV parts houses.
