Pocket door top rail removal

Has anyone tried to remove the top rail of their circa-2002 pocket doors?

Our bathroom pocket door top rail "scrapes" when the door is moved -- one of the 3-wheel glides in the rail comes in contact with one side of the top rail. Thorough cleaning and lubrication don't solve the problem.  I have some replacement parts, but haven't figured out exactly how the top rail can be removed without damaging the surrounding woodwork.

With the pocket door dismounted, the top rail is fully exposed so there's no problem accessing and removing all the visible mounting screws.  With all the screws removed, the rail still seems to be quite securely mounted in place -- perhaps with some adhesive on top or on the sides.

Any suggestions before I try using more force and damage something?
