Smartire and changing tires

"I am in the process of getting a flat tire changed. Is there something that

needs to be done to hook up the Smart Tire while the tire is off the rim? Of course, since the man does not speak English and I don't speak Spanish, it may not matter if something needs to be done or not!"
I just had a spare tire remounted on the road after a flat then had the four rear Toyo tires replaced at Action Tire in Atlanta. Ordinary tire irons were used and no special precaution was used to protect the Smartire.

No damage resulted. I watched as they removed and remounted the tires.
