A/C Random Temp Display

I have a 2008 Intrigue with 3 zone a/c.  I am getting random temp display for zone 3 (bedroom) which will show 77, 75, 66, 71, etc.  I replaced the temp sensor with no luck.  I see a ton of stuff about electrical interference but I don't have any halogen or flourescent fixtures and it happens without anything on.  Any ideas on what the issue could be?  It will run for 2 min then stop and then immediately start again which is super annoying.

We have a 2007 Intrigue.  You could have a bad zone sensor.  To troubleshoot you could switch the wires with a different zone's wires.  Eg. Connect zone 3 to where Zone 1 wires connect and connect the Zone 1 Wires to where the Zone 3 wires were. If the same problem shows up on the switched zone, and the trouble one is working, then the problem is in the zone sensor or the wires connecting the sensor to the thermostat If the problem persists, then its likely the Thermostat itself. , which you could check by connecting the sensor to different You can get replacement sensors (I'm not sure where I've seen them before, but I have - you can probably google it, ask this forum or check the IVR2 forum.  Hope this helps.

Do you mean zone temp sensor or is there a different sensor.  For what it's worth, I did replace the zone 3 temp sensor with a new one and there was no difference.  I did get a new thermostat also yesterday and it was of no help.  I'm going to trace the temp sensor wire to see if there are any bad connections and I will go up on the roof to see if there are any connection issues there.

Hi Colin: Sounds like you are doing a good job troubleshooting. I'm not an expert, just an owner. The problem could be with the A/C board. There is a circuit board in your A/C that actually controls the switch from Elec. Heat to Gas Heat. The way I understand it. The thermostat just tells the board what to do. The boards are expensive. Almost $300. There is one for each unit/zone. They are accessed from INSIDE the coach. Depending on your ceiling configuration you have to pull down the padded ceiling panels to access the A/C from the inside. Its not hard to do. On mine, the wood and pleather covered "S" shaped panels pull out (they are held in by wire clips and just pull loose) check the panels and the ones with some "give" come loose exposing screws that can be removed to drop the whole panel. Above the panel is the bottom of the A/C unit. It is MUCH easier to access the control board from the inside vs. the roof. The control board is held in place by a couple of screws and is an easy plug in with the exception of the main power wire. You remove the cover of the control board (its actually a box) and wire nut the wire in place, plug in the control wires and replace the box. For awhile I was blowing a controller or two a year, so I learned to carry a spare. Once I bought the spare, I've never had to use it. At this point, if replacing the sensor and the thermostat isn't fixing the problem, that is the next item up the chain. The control boards on the A/C units are electrically sensitive and prone to failure.. I hope this helps. My guess is that your Intrigue's ceiling is pretty close to mine. My coach number is 12150...

Hopefully this helps. LMK if you have more questions.

I agree that I'm going to have to look at the control board.  I took the rear ceiling down and cleaned the coils, which were pretty dirty, and re-seated all of the connections.  I was able to test a few cycles of the A/C and I didn't see an immediate temp randomness so I'm crossing my fingers at this point.  I'm hoping not to have to get a controller.  We'll see though.  Appreciate the responses.
