Oil Dip Stick

While having my PacBrake serviced, "R Mechanic" in Livermore CA noticed that the plastic tube which guides the dipstick had melted on the exhaust manifold. A hole had melted into it and a little oil was blowing out of it! Photos available on request. They installed a new dipstick tube and routed it slightly away from the exhaust manifold (instead of resting on it).

This is a problem I experienced about 2 years ago.
To me, it is mandatory that the dip stick housing be inspected and rerouted using plastic tie-wraps so it does not touch anything including the oil and DCA filters. I had a pac brake blow-by problem in addition and when the dip stick ruptured, about 2 gal of oil were pumped out.

While at the Tucson rally I had Country Coach check the engine, as I was leaking oil. On of the things they found was that my dipstick sleeve had melted as yours had. They replaced it with a new one that was insulated at no charge, even though ours is a 99 Intrigue. Later in Albuquerque at Cummins, they found that the main leak was at the oil pressure sending unit. CC had put the wrong type fitting on and since I had previously had Cummins do work for an oil leak, they did a fix for free. Seems that both CC and Cummins stepped up to the plate on these items. I had that problem with my 99 Intrigue when I drove it from the factory. I would have thought that problem would have been fixed by now.
