More of the same...

Took coach to local Cummins today for cracked exhaust manifold and hope for PAC brake repair. Also inquired about the compressor safety program and a Hurricane heating plumbing correction we received yesterday from CC in the form of a recall.

Now told that the Charge Air Cooler has ruptured (one of the heat exchangers in the driver side rear that cools the intake air) and this is responsible for the exhaust manifold crack (what absolute BS) due to over temperature.
Next, even more laughably, the reason for no PAC brake retardation is that the crack in the exhaust manifold (1-1/2" long by maybe .003" wide) is preventing pressure build up even when the 4" diameter exhaust outlet is shut off by the PAC brake. Amazing!
The California company that makes the Cooler (also makes the same part for Monaco Coaches) does not keep spares on hand and has to make them to order.
I have no idea how much the cooler is (out of warranty of course) but the freight from CA is $400.00 and it will take several weeks to get here, canceling our next two trips. The Country Coach reaction was the usual disinterested denial of any form of responsibility. Silly me for even thinking they would be concerned.

Apparently we will get the compressor safety fix although we have received no notification from anyone that we needed it. Country Coach is still in a huddle over whether they can compensate Cummins for correcting the OEM plumbing errors on the Hurricane heater. They are, after all, not an approved Country Coach repair shop although the only such business that they have not warned us off is nearly 2000 miles away in Arizona!

Anyone interested in a wacked out 2000 Intrigue?
