Question Concerning Washer/Dryer

Need some advice from you all out there that own the Splende washer/dryer. What is the correct amount of dry soap (Tide) to use for wash loads. The instructions say to use a teaspoon or two, but, I have not been happy with the wash results. Any advice for better wash results?

Personally, I like liquid soap because it is less likely to leave caked up residue in the dispenser. Haven't really measured, but would estimate a tablespoon or two (1/2 to one ounce) -- depends upon how hard the water is. My gauge is to have very little foam with no visible foam during the rinse.

One teaspoon is only 1/6 of an ounce. That is not much soap!
Question, when your clothes dry, how far does the dryer vent open on the outside of the coach. Mine only opens a quarter inch and takes a long time to dry. I don't expect it to be like a home dryer.
Also, comparing a small load to one twice the size, I would estimate that the large load take three time longer to dry.

Find it also useful to remove and fluff the clothes after the wash and before the dry cycle. Just recently one direct-to-dry-cycle load left one tee-shirt still stuck to the drum and dried in a totally useless condition.

The quick reference guide we have for the Splendide 2000S states "Use no more than 1-2 tbsp. of powder detergent (or 1/2-1 tbsp.liquid) and 1-2 tbsp. of fabric softener per wash load.) It looks like you might be using teaspoons vice tablespoons. We use 2 tablespoons of Tide and 2 Tablespoons of softener.

We are fulltiming and have been very satisfied with the results.

Rick, my better half says they recommend a low sudsing powder such as ALL. She usually uses two full tablespoonfuls sprinkled over the top of the clothes for best results. If you are not satisfied with your results, maybe you are overloading the machine. She is well satisfied with wash quality, but drying is not too swift. Has to dry half load at a time.

Tide has an HE detergent and Wisk has an HE detergent for front loaders that is low sudsing. Use the minimum amount "line 1" as shown on the plastic cap when washing clothes in the splendide. Wisk has a line but it is not numbered, it is the lowest level line in the cap for the bottle. Line 2 is for medium loads, line 3 for large loads, line 1 ( not always marked with a 1) is for small loads. That has worked for us.

Dont forget to clean the filter...

Thank you all for the advice. I think I'll switch over to a liquid detergent and use a liquid softner too.

Why do the instructions state NOT to used the fabric softener sheets? I use the liquid, but prefer the sheets since they are lighter and take up so much less space in the cabinet.

I use liquid Tide - one to two tablespoons - and for most loads, do the wash cycle, remove the clothes and put only half of them back into the unit and set it to dry. I do this with towels as well as jeans or tee shirts. I dry one pair of jeans at a time and end up with them not too very wrinkled...I REFUSE to iron! LOL With tee shirts, I dry a couple of them at a time and they come out ok..again...I REFUSE to iron!! I'm still experimenting to see how clothing comes out. If I look a little wrinkled...well, hope ya love me the way I is. 8-)

1987 LTD coach questions

I finally brought my 40 footer home. I t drove ok. I am sure it did not drive as nice as the newer ones but it was fine. It was burned up in the inside but there is allot of good useable cabinets. We hope to have it ready before summer ends. I could not believe how this thing wanted to cruise at 75 towing a vehicle. I am very happy with the quality Country Coach put in there vehicles.
One of the things I am curious about though is the fuel tank. I drove about 125 and used a 1/8th of a tank of gas. It was on the 1/4 mark when I filled up and it took about 52 gallons. It is hard to believe I got about 20 miles to the gallon. How accurate are these gas gauges? Also is there any baffles in the tanks? It seems as long as they are if I was going up a a hill on a 1/2 full tank I could run out of gas.

There are companies that specialize in smoke removal from burned homes. You might want to talk to them before starting on your project.

Not very, to say the least (on our '98 Intrigue, anyway). After we refuel, I zero the trip odometer and normally give the coach a 600 mile limit before we refuel.

The tech told me that they don't like the sheets because they can get sucked through the vent and get stuck in the dryer.
I had a major failure last year with my washer/dryer. What happened was the bolts that hold the fan motor to the plenum vibrated loose and they sheared off. So there was a lot noise and vibration in the washer/dryer and the fan motor failed that blows air for the dry cycle.
While taking in apart I noticed a huge amount of lint in the tube that comes from the dryer drum to the lint filter that hooks up to the dryer vent line that goes to vent outside the coach. What I have done is cut the crevice tool attachment for a standard vacuum cleaner flat across the bottom and cut a flat slot in so I can slide it down where the vent screen goes in the back of the washer/dryer and maybe once a month or so depending on usage I suck out the lint using my standard vacuum cleaner. Can't believe how much lint this process removes.
Also when I had the washer/dryer out, I removed the plastic drip pan which the unit sits on and you will find a trap door there. You can than access the hydro red dot heater and clean that, that heater heats the rear of the coach. Of course this is only if you have the hydronic heat system and the sweet of dreams configuration motor home Intrigue. After cleaning the red dot heater I put the trap door back and reinstalled the drip pan and reinstalled the washer/dryer.
This is one plus for Country Coach and a plus to there wonderful design because if you look at other coaches most of them never even install the drip pan under there washer/dryer.
This pan is an option one can buy from Splend. Also the people from Splend were great in tech support and getting parts. I spoke to Ryan and he walked me through the taking apart most important putting it back together.

The tank holds 160 gal. On mine at half tank on gauge it will take 60 to 80 gal. to fill. we get about 7 mpg towing jeep at 75.My eng was ret tuned by cat to 330 hp so may not be same as yours.

We are removing the covering on the ceiling and sealing it. We are doing the same for the floor so I am sure the smell will go away as we replace furniture, sand cabinets, and clean . If the smell persist I will take you up on your suggestion before we get carried away.
The fuel tank thing I didn't understand was that I may be driving around with 100 gallons of non useable fuel. If that is true maybe I'll put another small tank in and pump from the big one to the small one so I can use more of my fuel. The other thing I didn't like was having a small opening for fueling. That has to go. It's a drag to come into a station towing a car and have to juggle around the car pumps to get fuel. I assume CC changed that on their newer coaches.
I am use to driving a 30 footer. It sure is allot different with 10 more feet. What kind of problems do you run into having such a big coach?

Our tank is "only" 110 gallons and we get 9 to 9-1/2mpg. And I don't want to get to the point where we have less than 1/4 tank, 'cause then our genset won't work. The "safety margin" resulting from not driving more than ~600 miles works well for our rig. Yours may well be different.

Our '98 Intrigue has dual openings; one right behind the curb side entry door and one at the same point on the street side.

We went from a 31' Class C to our 36' Intrigue. The only "problem" was that we had to modify our driveway ($$$) to permit us to back straight in. Other than that ...

One time I packed the washer full and some of the clothes weren't even wet when the cycle was done! The learning curve with this new washer/dryer was kinda steep for me. LOL

Read the manual and it will tell you how much to put in for a safe clean load.

I understand what you are saying but we have been packing the washer for 4 years and it has never failed. We use it as a clothes hamper. When it is full we wash what is in it. Now we don't do rugs, we do those at commercial places, but we do all our towels plus beach towels in one load.

I am curious where your coach number is. I looked for mine where CC told me and can't find them. I am going to need a book on the coach as there is too much stuff to figure out. I just found out it has a 1500 watt PAC converter with a automatic transfer. I had no idea there was even one there.
I just flushed the toilet and was surprised to see it was a water and air flush system. Ingenious idea! It is hard to believe what they may have in the newer coaches.
I guess this is why CC coaches are one of the best. Innovation, styling, and quality.

The# on mine is 1 on a tag by your left leg on the a post in front of drivers door.2 on a tag in bath room cabnet.I would think it is some where else also but have not found it yet.I have all manuals so can probuly ans. most ?.

I found the chang over relay behind rear tv. Had a lot of trouble with it so I took it out, never used inveter any way. I put a small inveter in front to run sat. recever.
