Dometic Repairs

Found our gasket on bottom of refrigerator door split and hanging down at three years of age. As cold drops, figured it would be leaking at the bottom which is the worst place.............so wanted ot replace it. A few words of wisdom for those of you who will want to do the same thing after examining your seals closely.
Ordered part thru CC as Dometic will not sell retail, dealers only. Learned after receiving the box, drop shipped from Dometic direct, that could have ordered a one seal kit or two seal kit. Of course they shipped me a two seal kit and I know Molly will insist that I replace both. Bummer! If you order make sure you stipulate either one or two door kit.
Doing this requires a flat place to lay the door on after removal. As the old seal is "molded" into the doors, one has to cut out completely the old one. Then one can tape up the new gasket, apply it, and instructions read to let it rest for 48 hours before putting the door back on. Once on, it may take 4 to 5 days for the seal to comform to the refer, so one has to plan a week without refrigeration to comlete this project.
The box received with the new seals was large, but the seals were still deformed and bent, and what I have done is lay them flat in the sun to warm up and then cool off and see if they don't regain their original shape,
