Surge protector?

I should know the answer but my dealer is 1200 miles away and I do not want to bother Country Coach factory service with this question.
Plus, I do not have much faith in my dealer's service or sales departments. What type of surge protector, if any, does the 1999 Intrigue have from the factory? Should I invest in an off-market surge protector like for about $350?

The '99 Intrigue has a "sacrificial" surge protector that is basically a high current detector that trips a dead short accross the breaker box, guaranteeing that the main breaker will trip. Once this event occurs you are out of business until the surge protector is at least removed from the breaker box. The surge protector then needs to be replaced.

Hi George, I purchased a new 50 amp surge protector for my 99 Allure and never have used it since we traded on an Intrigue that has a built in surge protector. If you are interested in this, I believe I paid around 360 at campers world and will sell it to you for 200 plus shipping. (It's new) If you don't like it you can send it back.
Contact me on regular email or call me at 201-891-8657 if you are interested. I belive that they are very valuable in protecting your circuits and have had my previous ones cut off during surges.

Happy camping, John Panzenhagen
