Holding Tank Odors Inside the Coach

I've been fighting occasional holding tank odors inside the coach ever since I purchased it over a year ago. Last night, I discovered that the washer/dryer plumbing appears to have been installed incorrectly. There is no trap, and no vent, behind the washer.
There should be, per the CCI coach plumbing drawings. There is only a riser that can be easily traced directly to the grey tank. I am going to install a trap, riser, and a "vent valve". I bet that solves my problem. So if you are getting some mysterious odors....you might check that part of your plumbing. If mine is screwed up, there are probably others.

Mike, I too have found the venturi caps to do the job. I caution you, though, don't order them from CC---they charged me about $ 20 for one including shipping. I later found out the local RV dealer has them for under $10. On my present coach I could only use one as the grey tank vent is too close to the refrigerator vent to get any air flow through the venturi cap. Some time ago someone in this group gave us an excellent tip re grey tank odor. Make sure there is water in the washing machine p-trap.

It wasn't the roof vent that was the problem. There was no p- trap/tank vent at the washer/dryer. Only a single lonely 1-1/2" drain pipe going directly to the grey tank. I just completed the installation of the trap/vent today and tested it....no more odors.
Cost me about $15. I bet CCI or my local repair shop would have got to me for $250+. It pays to be handy.
