Has anyone had to replace the slide room gasket? If so, what did it entail? Help needed.

FYI for all members: DFS Service Agreements do NOT consider gasket replacement as a maintenance item, therefore the replacement IS covered under the service agreement.

Sandra, we've replaced two gaskets. The lower one and one "sidewiper" on our BR slide. They both have "teeth" that had gotten corroded over time. (Our AC runs down that side...since we found this out, we've "tilted" our rig so the AC water doesn't run down that side and get sucked under the wipers by capillary action.) It's not a big repair...any tech should be able to do it. Once we sent to CC for a length of the gasket and the local repair person in the boonies was able to do it, then the sidewiper went out and the local "mobile RV repair person" was able to repair it....takes less than an hour. Not a big deal. It's a big deal when it got sucked under the slideout and we had a bitch of a problem getting the slide room in or out. I used a spatula to help work it out! Good luck...shouldn't be a problem.

I know it's been a long time replying to your helpful information about the slide gaskets. When Bob called CC about the galley slide, the tech, after checking it out, and Bob sending pictures of the problem, asked us to not take to anyone for repair, but that he would walk Bob through replacing it himself. The tech had not seen the same setup on any coach other than ours. We had to remove everything mounted on the galley slide in order to get it our far enough to get to the gasket. What a job - however, it is now done and we should not have another problem with it. Thanks again for your reply. We are the second owners of the coach and we love traveling in it. I joined the group shortly after purchasing the coach, but was never very good at going on site. Boy, have I learned a lot. I think there were over 2,000 messages in my mail box when I finally got smart and I read every single post on it. All of you know so much and are so willing to share with us "newbies". As you might have guessed, I do the reading and print out everything I feel we might need to know. Thanks again.

I this is a second message, I apologize. I sent this from the page with all the messages. Has anyone had to do this? If so, would like your input on whether you did it yourself and if so, what did it entail?

Thanks

-I had my replaced at Homecomming Rally (CC calls this a "sweep seal". It took three techs almost 2 hours to do--needed a special jack to hold the room up, and a lot of contortions under the sofa to glue the new one properly. Mine was done no charge, but I was told by another member they charge $1400 for this at Junction City.

Thanks for info - when did you have this done? Did they have to remove the cabinets (top and bottom on the slide-out wall) to get the slide out enough to replace the seal? Did the gasket go completely around the slide? We are in Florida and are doing this ourselves with assistance from a tech.

It was done at homecomming this year. Only the bottom was done, and they reached everything by removing the slide trim and the couch drawer.
