Vacuums

Hi - I have found that the smaller vacuums aren't usually powerful enough for pet hair, so we carry a full-size Hoover. It takes up most of the space in the small closet in the bedroom under the TV (I took out the shelves). We travel with 2 cats, and with their bits of cat litter and hair, I vacuum every day (sometimes twice). Just takes a minute, and the coach looks so much nicer. I'm not able to get down with a hand-held vacuum, so giving up the storage was worth it for me.

Hi: I know what you are saying about the vacuum having to have a power head to get up the dog hair. We carry a full sized Electrolux canister since we travel with two Chow Chows. The vacuum is huge but luckily fits in the well under the bed. It is really clumsy to use but really does the job. Sears has a vacuum that is a medium sized canister with a power head that we are waiting to go on sale. Right now it is about $200.00. They also have one just like it without the power head for $100.00. We were afraid it would not pick up the dog hair. Until you have traveled with two Chow Chows you can't imagine how much hair they can shed and how powerful the vacuum has to be to pick it up. We also have to vacuum about every other day when we are parked.

Which Sears is it? I'll go look at it also. The Sanyo that was recommended is very nice, I'm just not sure strong enough for 3 Belgian Tervuren's hair and dust.

I was thinking I could just take my Royal canister and put it in one of the compartments. But that Sanyo is so compact, it would be easy to use everyday.

Thanks for all the feedback. It is really helpful to know what others have used.

Hi: I live in Apple Valley, Ca. and I would think that any full size Sears store would have the same vacuums. It is blue in color , kind of clear and blue plastic and kind of futuristic looking, and has a nice flexible hose. This is what I hate about the Electrolux, the hose is not flexible and is very stiff.

I went looking at all the vacuums and the Sanyo's are VERY nice.
The 3x1 is really neat, but they also make a small cansiter that is very light and small and bagless. It was about $190 at the local store. Sanyo should be something everyone at least looks at before they buy.

Thanks to the person that put me on to Sanyo.
